yes those sick days are banked (locked IN) at august 2012 pay scale rates. Now as mentioned above going to one system will not save that much money. Look at the GTA amalgamation like 5 cities into one, the bigger one thing is the harder it is to control. Secondly to get rid of the Catholic system would take millions do to 10-12 years of court battles

Why get rid of the catholic board?
Because you are paying for a second set of super intendents. Why not just offer catholicism as a course that students can take? Cheaper to have one large building than two smaller buidlings. Furthermore, if you're not catholic why should you pay for their edit : religious education?

you don't pay when you pay your taxes you check off catholic or public. I 'll tell you when the castle gets bigger more administration will be added to the pot. Too larger schools they would have to be built. We have one of the best systems in the world just check out our tests scores internationally.

Test scores are very good. But the problem is yo are arguing with people who paint teachers with the same brush.

The only reason catholic schools remain is politics. I'm sure if you pooled existing buildings and buses there would enough for one system with space left over. Also from an equity point of view . Don't think it's cool that you have to be catholic to work for the Catholic board unless they can't find a qualified catholic.

:thumb: been saying this for years. There's no reason you can't have one facility house all students, those who requiring religion classes and chapel get it, those who don't, get Canadian History.

Catholic Schools

Sorry but I can agree. I think it is more then political for keeping the schools. While I agree it would help the public sector if all taxes went to them, I don't see that as a good enough reason to axe them. The public sector should find better ways to manage their money then to go after the catholic board.

Just my opinion. Not looking to debate it. Will just agree to disagree.

Right and a better way to manage the money would be to not pay for TWO education systems..... especially if one hires preferentially and admits certain kids preferentially and doesn't provide special education support for kids who need it (if you are a parent of a kid with anything from a mild learning disability to be developmentally delayed you have to choose whether religion or support is more important for you).

The initial savings of amalgamating would not be as dramatic as in the future when you start building larger schools on one lot instead of two lots.

The catholic board gets its money from the same pot as all other government services so it's fair game.

To me it just seems strange that catholic parents want their kids to only go to school with catholic kids. Or more accurately that only catholic parents have the choice to send their kids to a catholic school without the killer costs of private schools.

IF you want a private school than it should come from public money.

I don't agree. I don't agree that the catholic board does not and can not support special needs. I know this to be false. I am sorry. I am not here to debate it. Again, just my opinion. I know it is bad sports that I am not engaging in a 5+ page fight with you about it, but I know my opinion and your opinion are not changing no matter what one says to the other so I am about to waste my time on the debate. No offense just seems pointless to me.

We have 2 systems, it is not changing anytime soon either. Thank you for answering my question though.

Fine subtract out the part about special ed (As it's what I've heard).

Basically you're basing your comments on your opinion and the fact that it's been going on for a long time. Your teachers should be fired.

Considering the fact that I did not get into the debate with you, how can you determine where I based my opinion from? Without making ignorant assumptions???

Maybe your teachers should be fired...... Just sayin'.

Why the need to fight it out? Can you not simply accept that I asked a question, disagree with your opinion, but thanked you for it?

Because you said something to the effect of "it's just my opinion" Sorry I took you on your word.

Had you have said d"I have reasons but don't want to bother sharing" that would have been different.

For someone who doesn't want to debate you sure aren't acting like it.

You keep quoting me, posting to me. I am simply replying. Not debating anything. We have not exchanges thoughts and facts on a subject, going back and forth, point for point. Unless debating about not debating is now the debate.

Clearly a person using common sense would put together that I have reasons for my opinion. Most people do. I did not just wake up today and say "Hey, I am going to have the opinion that public and separate school boards is a good idea for no reason other then I want that opinion". LMAO!!!

If you pull opinions out of your ass, then I apologize, but I don't work that way.

Thanks

Whatever.

Does that matter? Is my opinion of such concern for you that you need to know exactly how and why? Would that not then lead to the debate that I am not looking to get into since neither of us are going to reflect or cause any change after the debate is done? Seems like a waste and so does this non debate back and forth bullshit.

Seriously bud, it is Sunday. I slept in nice. I drank a coffee or 3, chilled on TERB for bit. I have a life and now need to go live it. Enjoy your Sunday. Enjoy the last word. Enjoy whatever you need to think to make your day bright. It is not skin off my ass. I'm outtie.

You don't want to discuss your reasons but you'll make countless posts on not wanting to discuss.

Yes it matters because I'm not sure which definition of opinion that applies to you is one where your belief is based on well thought out facts.

Seems like you didn't mean any of this since your definition of opinion actually includes facts and proof and your multiple posts suggests that you don't mind debating and you don't want to agree to disagree.

Anyways, have a nice afternoon even though the weather sucks.
