If the students had their named legally changed then call them by their legal name. If not the parents and doctor can arrange and assist the student in legally changing it. This would be the same regardless if the situation, which by definition is equality.

What, if anything, would prevent non-Trans persons from choosing their own pronouns? Some people would definitely enjoy having other people be required to refer to them as "his highness", "maestro", "my Lord", "the Tominator" or "massa".

Unlikely. If the employer required teachers use the current name and he chose not to follow that policy then they have an absolute right to fire him.
It's already at the court of appeal level. The Supreme Court only takes a tiny % of cases that ask leave to be heard. The chances of this case getting heard at the USSC is very small.
Aiden and Sam, those are the names of the kids, and he was told by management If you can't call them by those names, call all of your students by their last name instead which he agreed to do and then didn't do. Instead choosing to either dead name them or not even acknowledging their existence. So yes, they fired him, for not following a workplace rule that they even tried to accommodate a little for his stupid ass.

One of the two kids involved, quit the class because what's the point of being in class when the fucking teacher won't even answer your questions or acknowledge you said anything.
Sounds like he was on a power-trip in his classroom and was probably an asshole to the other kids as well.
So we have to call kids Andrew instead of Andy, Johnathon instead of John, Daniel instead of Danny.

The issue only comes up when there's a problem that either the teacher or student or both is unwilling to accommodate. In the vast majority of cases both will be quite willing to stick with traditional nouns and pronouns. People who like to poke the bear might find this problematic.
Actually, I read a story somewhere and I doubt I can find it now, where a teacher refused to use the nickname of a child. Nothing to do with transgender shit.
I think the kids name was like Tobias John and everyone called him TJ. The teacher refused.

So you labour through your education, work for however many years in your career as a professional, acquire financial responsibilities to live your life, and you can have your income stream halted and fired over the use of a person's pretend name.

The school was right to fire this teacher. If anything he/she does not deserve to be one. If a student wants to be addressed by a different name, just use that name instead of politicizing the issue and putting the student in a hostile and distressing situation, regardless of what you may think of it. Let alone pushing your religious beliefs on the kids. Schools need to be safe for the student and students should not be harassed especially by teachers.
