Wow are you really patting the Star on the back for doing their job? I would hope they would be pissed about Ornge and wasted taxpayer dollars no matter what side of the political arena you reside. I'm a Conservative but you can be damn sure I am pissed about the limo driver OT fiasco.

You should probably buy a subscription to The Star, then, because they seem to be the ONLY paper uncovering the stuff that pisses you off. I bet you were pissed off by e-Health too!

In the currently fashion of the world, everyone's job is top make as much money as possible, first, last and always. Thus The Sun's thoughtful full-page headline today about the first comprehensive look at transit planning by the current Council:
Taxaholics!. No content, but a real-eyeball attracter, and selling eyeballs to advertisers is what they do. First, last and always. Same w/ The Star, but their eyeball attractant these days is content.

Greed's not the only way to organize and motivate people, but it's what we're stuck with for now. Let's be thankful for the few institutions that still imagine they have some other purpose and try to help them stave off the bean-counters who don't care whether they're selling news or nasal spray.. The last thing we need is more tabloid-type pandering to preconceived prejudices.

It was a thoroughly predictable transit plan, not World War !!!.

This is a real head scratcher. Perhaps you can refresh my memory where I said that the G20 summit was some local story? You reduced to making up silly points totally out of the blue now? I thought that was fuji's specialty.

PS yes I was kidding you but you really did miss the point. BTW you can substitute the word district for local in my original post if it makes you feel any better.
OK. It does appear that there is quite a disconnect between what you said and what I responded to. My bad.

As far as my commenting on those TDSP stories, I see plenty of evidence of collusion and corruption by the maintenance unions and the TDSP. And I agree that the political donations made by the union to school board trustees and Liberal MPPs are highly suspect and inappropriate. It is also unacceptable for trades people to be coerced into campaigning for trustees or MPPs. Hopefully, the Star investigation will force government or police to look further and clean this up once and for all. The laws governing political donations should also be changed to prevent unions from using extra fees or union dues to support union-friendly candidates.

That said, there was nothing substantive in any of Fuji's 3 articles showing that Liberal MPPs were in on this. Trustees and MPPs get lots of campaign donations and supprt from volunteers and I didn't see anything showing that Liberal MPPs were aware that their volunteers were coerced or that donations from unions were improper. This doesn't mean the Liberals are in the clear. It just means they haven't been caught. If they're breaking the rules, I'd be happy to see them caught and punished.
