If a VW car in germany costs 10,000, you pay VAT on $10,000
If a VW truck in germany costs 10,000, you pay VAT on $10,000
If a chevy car in germany costs 10,000, you pay VAT on $10,000, and 10% import duty on $10,000
If a chevy truck in germany costs 10,000, you pay VAT on $10,000, and 10% import duty on $10,000

If a VW car in the US costs 10,000, you pay a 2.5% import duty
If a VW truck in the US costs 10,000, you pay a 25% import duty
If a chevy car in the US costs 10,000, you don't pay federal tax
If a chevy truck in the US costs 10,000, you don't pay federal tax.

Considering trucks typically transact at greater prices than cars, and that truck volume is greater than car volume, which tariff scheme represents a greater trade barrier?
Not sure where you get your figures from regarding trucks

Medium and heavy-duty truck imports and exports of the U.S. with the EU 2008-2024
The United States' trade balance with the European Union for medium and heavy-duty trucks was consistently negative between 2008 and 2024. In 2024, the country imported such goods for at total of 314.5 million U.S. dollars, compared to exports worth around 24.4 million U.S. dollars.

The United States is the world's largest car importer, importing over $234 billion in passenger vehicles in 2023, with the top suppliers being Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Canada, and Germany

In 2023, the United States exported $65.3 billion in cars, making it the 4th largest exporter of cars globally, with Canada being the leading destination, followed by Germany and China

Medium and heavy trucks are different from F150's. Think box trucks and tractor trailers.

And again: The EU moves more goods on trains, so has a smaller market (and different regulations) for medium and heavy trucks. How many cab-overs do you see on US roads? How about EU roads?

And besides, even in medium- and heavy- the EU numbers are a rounding error of the CUSMA and Asian numbers.

Do you have latest figures of how many cars, trucks, buses and other vehicles the US imports in total versus how much they export??

Europe is ready to make a trade deal

So in exchange for destroying his stock market, Trump is going to get the same deal that the EU has with pretty much everyone else?

"The EU charges average tariffs of just 1.6 percent on U.S. non-agricultural products, on a trade-weighted basis. But it does charge a higher tariff of 10 percent on imported American cars — although the U.S. is the only G7 country that still pays it because TTIP wasn’t concluded."

This will DESTROY the US car industry. Trucks and SUV's are all that is keeping GM and Ford going. If euros can start selling their compact and midsize without a 25% tariff, it's game over.

Where do you get your news?

60% of Americans own stocks. That's more than 50%, which means a majority of Americans DO own stocks.

Feel how you will about wall street: strong stock prices mean companies have capital to build and grow. We live in a Capitalist society, so capital going to companies via stock purchases is necessary.

Now, if you want to talk about nationalizing important companies, and providing their workers with secure government jobs, I'm all about it, but I didn't think you were so far Left.

Ritchie, you are so desperate for a Trumputin win that you are ready to sell your soul to the devil. It's ok, you will be fine for another 20 months. After that, the odds are your hero will be impeached once the Dems own the Senate and the house, but that is ok, enjoy your time now and stop dancing with the devil. I hear it can get very hot doing so.
