Can't say I've sampled all the Portuguese chicken places, but there is a place on Bloor, one block east of Dovercourt. I think its called Sardinha, or something like that. Excellent chicken. Also some other good food for take out is available.

St Lawrence Market is the best place to buy the Portuguese Chicken. CHURRASCO.
This place has been there since the dawn of time. I don't go the market much any more as the office is no longer across the street, I'm not coming home from work at 5:00 am, and the parking sucks big time, but it is good eatin'.

I agree Piri-Piri is pretty good - make sure they give you some sauce. Also, if you're along that strip of Dupont, there are about 10 places you can get chicken (it's little Portugal, after all) and most are pretty decent.

I used to like Nando's because it could be had very spicy and it is also moist compared to the chicken from some of the Churrasquiera places. Their prices have constantly crept up and the taste just isn't what it used to be.

I like making sandwiches with the crusty roll with a little of the whipped butter, some chicken and a little touch of ketchup. Throw in some of the spicy fries too.

I have tried St. Matthews on Rogers close to Keele and Villa Verde on Weston close to St.Clair.

In both cases you get a lot of food for the price. Lots of mini potatoes with a half chicken dinner for $9 all in but it's not as spicy or tasty as Nando's and so I need to add my own hot sauce. Lasts me 2 days.

I have heard piri piri is good but yet to try them.
