While I don't have anything nice to say about CAS, I don't believe the above to be true. They don't take your children away because the mother is a stripper or a pro. That would be against the law and clearly prejudicial.
It doesn't even make sense. If CAS was to take children away from mothers on the sole basis that they are strippers or sex workers, they would get a better take by just staking out the many local strip clubs. So if what you are saying was true none of US should be ALLOWED to raise our own children simply because we are in the sex trade? cause why should you be the only one to have your child taken because you were a stripper?

I had a run in with CAS and it wasn't pretty. They were fully aware of my occupation but they never once tried to use that against me. They have lawyers too. I am pretty sure they know that it's legal. Their only concern is whether you conduct business from your home where your child is.

CAS has lots of power, they can be handled but only one way: through A REALLY GOOD LAWYER. Also CAS has a pretty bad reputation and are being sued by many people in Ontario, mainly for their negligence in protecting the real abused children. Meantime they tie up their funds wasting time taking children away from good homes.

I don't know what your plans are but if you are not an abusive parent they have no reason to hold your child or give it up for adoption. (why didn't the father take him?) I would fight them! You can pm for that really good lawyers name if you are in the Toronto area and are interested in getting your child back. All the best.

It doesn't make sense, that's why I'm reopening the case and the reason why CBC wanted to do a documentary on it. You'd be amazed at how many other moms have lost their kids for the same reason.

BTW, the removal of a child from a sex worker is not manatory, but it is at the discretion of the worker, meaning that if a worker has a moral bias against sex work they can deem that a reason to apprehend the child. This I found out when I called CAS.

You are so right, this country is just full of evil parents, well at least the 5th gen ones, waiting to abuse their kids. I know that the only thing that kept my wife and I in line was the knowledge that the vigilant people from CAS would be on to us. After lunch break, but before the weekend.

How often do you hear of children in upper class families being taken by CAS... ?

I have known many an upper classman who takes narcotics.... but guess what... a poverty stricken mother not having enough food on her table has her kids yanked faster than the upper classman can snort another line...

CAS only look at poverty stricken families under a microscope... what about the families where CAS was involved but the father made a promise not to hit anymore and the child winds up dead... (ACTUALLY HAPPENED A FEW YEARS AGO... UPPER MIDDLE CLASS.... who saved this child!)

Personally.... I feel and this is a personal opinion.... the closer you are to the poverty line the more you are scrutinized.....

I think CAS should apply the same snatch and grab tactics with affluent families just as they do the poverty striken ones.


Also..... you say if you can't afford children don't have them... what if when you had the child you could afford it... and your situation changed... such as a divorce and a dead beat ex.....?
