Susan Atkins up for her yearly parole hearing next month - this would be number 18.

But again putting someone to death on average costs more money then life in prion.
Not really. That just factors in the appellate lawyer's fees because every capital case can legally be appealed all the way to the USSC, IIRC.

Actually executing someone is probably fairly cheap.

The question to me is that would she still be in jail had she killed someone that was not famous?
Most likely she would have sentenced to death (even as she was) if the people involved had been Bankers or Physicians or Carpenters or Real Estate Agents. . . It was a horrific crime.

She's also a victim, she was indoctrinated in Manson's cult. Now that's she's free of his influence she isn't any harm to anyone and should be released.

Perhaps so, but I don't have any sympathy.

You know somehow I trust this gal being out and about more than I trust Karla Homolka being out and about.

I'll agree that Karla Homolka is a more likely threat to the public at present, that doesn't mean Atkins deserves to be released.

Let Her Out.

California as a state is now bankrupt. They'll be releasing more higher risk killers, rapists an drug dealers early, yet keep her in. She is very low risk to offend again. Using logic she should be out. The system in the states is not consistent.
