If you wanna surf the net without your spouse knowing what site you have been on.

On google chrome, press ctrl, shft and "n" at the same time, this opens up another browser and no history, cookies are kept.

No need to verify that history has been cleared....

Yep, it's called InCognito mode in Chromium based browsers, InPrivate Browsing in I.E. and simply Private Browsing in Firefox/Mozilla based browsers.

Keep in mind that if you download anything it will not delete, and clearing your cache is always a good idea.

or you can set it in your shortcut so it's always in incognito mode "chrome.exe --incognito"

Does not work on OSX though.
