Superfoods is a watcher friendly series from England's channel4 - similar to our TVO which is running the series.

grapefruit has a flavonoid called naringenin and when our liver sees it it thinks we are fasting so we start burning fat but it turns out you have to eat 40 grapefruits in one sitting which includes a kilo of sugar so any benefit is lost

They are working on a naringenin supplement that is coming to your health food store so stay tuned for more exaggerated claims based on a grain of truth about naringenin but if your body starts being fooled into burning fat WTF happens to the food you eat ? It will not be used for energy of or turned into fat so WTF happens?

Eating 40 grapefruits would result in on Muther Facker of a canker I think. Your mouth would be so sore, you wouldn't be able to eat anything for about three weeks. So in that sense, I suppose this diet works.

Every month there is another super food being touted

Most have science behind them that is not understood by the public and are sold under false promises

What is the truth? is the reason for this thread

Grapefruit diet is a classic

Moderation people.
Have 1 grapefruit a day.
Part of a healthy diet.
Can't hurt?

It is loaded with sugar and so are oranges

better to have the fruit and not just juice which leads to another health food fad - juicers which are touted to "unlock the nutrients" so your body can absorb them better '

WTF does "unlocking" mean and do you need them to be "unlocked"

most vids seem to regurgitate misconceptions based on uniformed science

I defer to documentaries that have no money motive to sell a product

what do you feel the results are?
Its not the only thing I do. I also grow spinach and lettuce, I do nutri bullet and juicing and eat fruits and vegetables.

I think the combination of all the above works really nice. I have lots of energy, I can stay up night late and get minimum sleep. My sex drive is always there. So I think it works. How well? Dont really know, however you can't really go wrong if you eat many good things.

BTW...i love grapefruit juice in summers with lime and lemon juice. It is so refreshing and sometimes all you need to quench the thirst.

do you fall for the made up non scientific "mop up the free radicals and detox your body" blather at 3:00 spewed out by the manufacturer of superfood antioxidant's that have no proven health benefit?

I don't like lettuce and it's nutritional value is low. When I go for shwarma, I ask for tabbouleh over lettuce. If you have a green thumb I would recommend you grow rapini, arugula and basil instead. Spinach is good but also bland. Rapini is also considered a superfood recommended for people with anemia.

Wheat grass gives an all natural boost. If I can get it I prefer it to espresso.

My favorite dish - but why call it broccoli rabe....stupid Americans.

I like to grow Swiss chard because you pick some and it keeps on growing back. Also chew the occasional leaf of oregano and sage from the garden. Cayenne, turmeric, raw honey, coconut oil, ginger , hemp hearts and wheatgrass are all very groovy . Breast milk would be nice, but hard to cum by :)

Grapefruit was touted as weight loss super food back in the 70's, so it would seem that it is being brought back into the fold as a method of weight loss.

It was rumoured years ago that the body burned more calories digesting a grapefruit than the food produced. I have no data to support this. I peel and eat one pink grapefruit daily.

That is delicious. You cant go wrong with polenta and onions. I do this with eggs, polenta onions and pan fried in oil. Add sausage to this and your set. Cant really mess it up.

BTW that Nonna seems questionable to me. I thought Nonnas were a bit more pleasant and lovable. Did they just find her on the street or at a first Italian bakery?
