Boy, how did they lose that!!!!

They lost the game because DRC just couldnt cover Holmes in the 4th Q. And because Mike Gandy had a tough time with HArrison all game long. Woodley beat Levi Brown on that last Kurt Warner Fumble as well. I think we all knew the PITT OLBs vs ARZ Tackles were gonna be a key matchup and it turned out to be so.

I had predicted the Cards to win it and my prediction was wrong as usual. Then again I almost always predict the underdogs so it figures that I would be wrong.

Other than the one big play to Fitz where he split the safeties for the go-ahead score, Dick Lebeau's cover-2 zone limited Zona's explosive plays and I think that was key as well. Like I had said many times on the various threads leading up to the SB, its hard to dink and dunk your way down the field without negative things happening like a pick or a fumble or a holding call. Mike Gandy I thought had to have a big game and he did not, he had trouble with Harrison and got called for at least 3 holding calls in that game as I recall (2 against Harrison and 1 against Farrior)

Did Curt Warner just blow his chance at the Hall of Fame?

Perhaps, perhaps not. But he surely will live to regret his misjudgment causing the interception and the touch down by Pittsburgh's Harrison. Plus the undisciplined penalties on the Cardinals really hurt. Nonetheless, it is an overall great game and great entertainment value. Both teams play hard!!! Pittsburgh's Holmes is the Cardinal killer and should be the MVP.

The Big Ben tackle on Nick Harper was absolutely crazy. I remember that play like it was yesterday seeing Bettis's eyes as big as saucers after Gary Brackett forced the fumble, then Ben makes the shoestring tackle on NIck Harper. If not for that play Steelers dont even get to the SB. Then again , it was fitting that the Steelers beat the Colts in that game, the officials completely tried to rob the Steelers of that game like Joey Porter said. Remember the Polamalu INT that was ruled an incomplete pass? What a joke of a call that was. That was clearly an INT, a fumble, and a fumble rec by Polamalu. Instead the officials ruled it an incomplete pass. I'm not even an official and I know that.

Excellent game . I really thought zona was going to pull it out. I realize that the zona fans are very upset but at least they covered the spread----lol.

Therefore for everyone who bet on zona at least they got some money out of it! Congrats Steelers.

Dont forget the trick play in the Superbowl in Detroit a few years ago. When Randle-El passed to Ward for a TD.

The Cardinals could have gotten it done too if they could stop the Steelers' last touch down drive or held them to a field goal. It would be their turn to score with the remaining time in regulation or they could try to win in overtime. Realizing Holmes was the cluth player for Big Ben, the Cardinals should have done something to contain him. They had three defensive players near him the second time when Big Ben threw the ball to him but not close enough to stop the touch down. Guess it was not meant to be for the Cardinals to become Cinderella of Super Bowl XLIII.

Anyone see Holmes ode to LBJ in his TD celebration? I thought that could have been grounds for excessive celebration based on the celebration rules.
