We're not too far apart. But I just respect that music and see that he brings more generations together then any of these pop divas of today ever will.

Well, the game's over, the Pats won by 3 (not covering!) and Branch was the MVP. I don't have a problem with Branch being the MVP, but why not Harrison? For that matter, why not Brady? Branch played a good game, but someone had to get him those balls to catch, and it's not like he had any impressive runs after the catch.

I vacillated all week about how to bet this game. First I was pretty sure I was going to go with the Pats and give the points. But I began to think Philly had a decent shot to win, so then I thought money line on the Eagles. But then I began to think, nah, the Eagles aren't good enough to bet as an outright winner. So then I was left with taking Philly plus the points or just avoiding all that and just betting the over/under. About 5 hours before the game started I finally put my bet down--the under (47.5). As you can imagine, I was a happy camper to see a scoreless first quarter, and then a halftime score of 7-7. I was feeling pretty good until Philly scored that touchdown late in the game, and then even just a field goal by either team would ruin my under. I was feeling better when New England pinned Philly inside their own 5 yard line with seconds to play, but when Harrison made that interception I yelled at him just to fall down and not try to run it back for a touchdown. Lucky for me he did. Given I really didn't care about the outcome of the game, I think I got a lot of entertainment value from the game out of my under bet.

Oh, and I agree. Sir Paul was really good.

Offence "bias" is the only reason I can think of (I feel Harrison's performance was more important than Branch's)... that said, Branch did play well, and tie a Superbowl record....

True... the only one I remember was in the first drive of the third quarter. That said, 11 catches (a SB record) for 133 yards is more impressive than 23 completions (on 33 attempts) for 236 (beyond Branch, and 5 tosses to his backs, he wasn't really connecting with anyone else). Not bad by any means, but not "MVP" numbers....

Beyond the stats, Brady only played well for brief periods (mostly in the second half), made some mistakes (the fumble, some blatant misses), got away with some others (like that wobbly duck he threw up at his own five yard line when the Eagles brought their blitz), and for large stretches he was pretty ineffective. He wasn't horrible (he did have a few drives where he looked pretty good, and he was only sacked once by a pretty impressive Philly rush), but he wasn't exactly outstanding, even though he did all that they needed from him....

He's a great young QB, but I'd say there were many NE players who played better than Brady did today (mostly on defence... Harrison, for sure, and most of the linebackers were also outstanding), and who had a bigger part in getting this win....

Best regards,

F.

The Pats are just an amazing machine. They just find ways to win regardless of how slowly or quickly they start or the team they're playing.

One final thing. I don't like T.O. much. I don't go for idiot braggarts. But he manned up last night, had a big game (and should have been utilized more often) and showed an awful lot of courage coming back to action so quickly after breaking his leg. He showed me an awful lot last night.
