Well if you're going to chastise me like that I'll play. ;)
That's quite a list of guilty pleasure viewing, Buckaroo Banzai being my favorite of the group.
I've got three to add, have you seen them?

Kung Phooey. IMDB says " Kung Phooey is Bruce Lee meets Naked Gun "

King Solomon's Mines (1985). Filmed as a comedy, but marketed originally as an action/adventure to cash in on the Indiana Jones phenomenon. The giant cauldron scene had me crying.

Very Bad Things. IMHO the best black comedy ever. Starts off bad and goes downhill from there. Just when you think it can't get worse, it does. Highly recommended!

HEHEHEHEHE omg they aren't guilty pleasures at all! I happen to think they're awesome movies for their ilk........they aren't trying to be AC.AW material...I didn't put CLUE which is still one of those movies I pee myself watching. Whimsy is fun and underappreciated.
Solomon's was fun and I'm a huge CHAMBERLAIN fan including SHOGUN but I still prefer ROMANCING THE STONE AND JEWEL OF THE NILE and of course there's always THE GOD'S MUST BE CRAZY and for art's sake THE EMERALD FOREST and MOSQUITO COAST but far from fun or funny (except for "I think about you when I pee" (that was an ac.aw winning moment.
If you kept up with my blog you'd know I literally just mentioned HKPHOOEY and I have the entire dvd and special and crossover material.
VERY BAD THINGS is fun and funny to an extent but a buit too black for me...I draw the line at murder and for obvious reasons...wasn't she a working girl? so..................ya...................no thanks. HAHAHAHAHA
Not an INDIANA JONES fan...they're fun/ok movies but overrated IMHO.

Yeah, that scene in VBT is rough but sets the tone for the rest of the film.
Don't confuse HKPHOOEY with Kung Phooey- separate films.

Some good choices there Amy. I tend to like musicals as my 'comfort' films. Bye Bye Birdie, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Chicago, and The Blues Brothers are favourites. Also quite enjoy the John Hughes-type of teen comedies from the eighties, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Sixteen Candles, Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Every one of these films I've probably seen about a hundred times. Lol!

They aren't my 'comfort' films...they're my go to choices for end of summer and needing to shake off doldrums or blues.
MUSICALS ARE AMAZING! I love everything from SINGIN IN THE RAIN to PURPLE RAIN...SONG OF THE SOUTH to CHICAGO and every tv show or movie thats NOT a musical but has a dance/music number is awesome (like the FOAM dance number in SHE'S ALL THAT). There's a long list of musical movies that you can watch over and over and never tire or bore me. The Ferris/Ridgemont thing is a big deal. I did meet PHOEBE 2 years ago when hubby introduced me. Didn't get to have any fun with her but she was unbelievably juicy and charming.
As for my "comfort" films that's a totally different list.
