North of Toronto or north of ONTARIO?

It may help to narrow down a location. Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Callendar (outside North Bay), and Orillia come to mind.

Price range?

Children or just adults?

Need activities or just a fireplace and jacuzzi?

Going for rustic or luxury?

I wouldn't waste my money at deerhurst. Was there last year and it is very outdated and dusty in the room. The surrounding area is beautiful but for the money I felt ripped off.

What does a few hours north of Ontario mean? I assume it was a typo and he meant a few hours north of Toronto - hence the suggestions.

I will tell you I have been to Timmins and it was the armpit of Ontario. I could recomend Temagami and Haileybury but who the heck wants to drive 6 hours back and forth on a 3-5 day trip? Not me. And flights are getting ridulously expensive to go north these days. Or maybe he can drive 18 hours to stay near Thunder Bay. Crikey. That makes a whole lot of sense.

I try to answer questions in a manner that will suit the OP not further some agenda. So sorry if that disappoints you.

I was refering to his original question, although I do realize his second post is rather misleading...lol

Did not mean to ruffle your feathers...

6 hour drive..is a breeze.
Great scenery, good tunes, a blast.
Terb members are getting a little, let's say, soft.
By the way you would have to drive pretty damn slow to take 18 hours to Thunder Bay.
About 13.25 is average.

Port Cunnington on Lake of Bays.

"Port" was a special treat for my brother and I when we were staying at my Aunt's cottage. My grandparents knew the then owners very well. My mom tells stories how it took a full day to get to "Port" from Toronto by rail, then water taxi when she was a child. My grandmother bought a parcel of land in the '50s as a wedding present for my aunt and uncle that was very close to "Port".

As a kid, "Port" was rather rustic and very laid back. They allowed the cottagers to tie up at the dock and as long as some little thing (like an ice cream cone) was purchased at the tuck shop or staying for lunch or dinner, we were allowed to play all day on the beach and use one of the two water slides. At that time it was a family owned and run business.

Many times over the years our family would meet at "Port" for Thanksgiving dinner. The drive up could be spectacular with the leaves changing, or a bloody nightmare with rain, falling rocks and slippery leaves on the back roads.

The place was bought and is now being run as a modern efficient lodge, with very nice outbuildings. While it will probably suit your needs, it has lost the personal charm and the closeness it once held for our family.

Check out the French River area. Fishing is decent, lodges are not 4 star but are comfortable, still fairly remote.

You want luxury? Taboo. Deerhurst is hit and miss depending on the unit you get.

Blue Mountain is good as well, and they are working hard on improving their summer activities.

If you want something rougher, just go online and rent a cottage.

Evidently your wife does not take pee breaks, its 1400 km and the speed limit is posted at 90km/hr, and enforced at 115.

Why should she when he has her bound and gagged and wrapped in Depends Adult Diapers!

And a combo laser/radar detector takes care of the the other little detail.
