So you think forcing women to walk around in a black tent with only slits for their eyes,... accusing some one while wearing a mask,... are now Canadian traditions,... kinda proves my point,... doesn't it.
You claimed that they were forcing their traditions "on the culture of the country that they were allowed to enjoy" which is pure bullshit.

"Traditional" Christian Canadians are not being forced by immigrants to wear anything. Your claims are pure, irrational fear-mongering.

So every one of those women who walk around in black tents with only slits for their eyes,... and those who decided to cover their faces after becoming Canadian citizens,... are NOT Canadians then,... ???

Or is that just an example of the evolution of Canadian tradition,... ???

And removing holiday decorations to appease their oppressive religion,... dose not effect Canadian culture,... ???

Plus,... believe it or not basketcase,... not all Canadians are Christians,... some don't give a shit about the bull shit that is religion,... but I guess one would have to be a little more open minded.

In Canada, people can wear whatever they want. That is the Canadian tradition. Outlawing certain headwear is un-Canadian and fascist.

Actually,... people CANNOT wear whatever they want, where ever they want in Canada,... whether they are forced or not.

I did NOT say anything about outlawing "headgear",...

But my post is not about what people CHOOSE to wear,...

You are calling forcing Canadian women to wear a black tent with only slits for there eyes a Canadian tradition,... maybe in shit hole countries,... but not in Canada.

And my post was not about head gear,... but covering your face in public,... so that infidels can't gaze upon their face,... that is not head gear,... and its not Canadian culture,...!!!

My post is not even about clothes,... but about oppression,... and not respecting the Canadian way of life,...

If you were to go a bank with your face covered,... what do you think the response would be,... ???

And what would happen if a women who was forced,... or decide to cover their face once becoming a citizen of Canada,... was to apply for a job with the government, interacting with the public,... should that Canadian women be disallowed that job,... ???

Or are we to be forced to accept dealing with a person who's face is covered,... ???

If you are going to reply,... answer those questions,... or don't bother.

People in this country are free to wear what they want.
End of story.

Claiming that all women who wear the hijab do so because they are forced to is ignorant.
Most do it by choice.

I agree, I welcome only those who choose to integrate. No special accommodations.
I guess that includes Jews in yarmulkes and Sikhs in turbans and beards then?

You're a regular Human Rights lawsuit waiting to happen......

Yup no more Ukrainian Dancers and giant Easter eggs in Vegreville, nor women in saris and salwaar kameez or Greek guys in skirts marching in two Independence Day parades, or cross-dressing Police Pipe Bands in their schoolgirl kilts, or priests and nuns dressing like its still the Middle Ages …, …, And no more Green Beer!

But I'll go to the barricades for my unintegrated Tortière and Poutine.

If you believe that,... then its already too late,...

So you agree that a Canadian women who insists on covering her face while being employed dealing with the public by a government agency,... should not be hired,... ???

Going into a bank with you face covered,... is "inappropriate",...

And once again,... Canadians,... well most,... are NOT allowed to wear what they want,... where they want.

On a more serious note, Zaibetter's stereotype of Muslims as being too remote from "Canadian values" to ever fit in is inaccurate. Muslims who are that hardcore and extreme are a small minority. The "standard" picture I have of Muslims is the well dressed, Westernized housewives I see at Fairview mall at lunchtime. Or the photos of the Arab and Iranian real estate agents on For Sale signs. Or my own Muslim clients.

The danger with Z's way of looking at things is - of course - that it portrays ALL Muslims as behaviourally so different from "real Canadians" that they will always be an unassimilable out group. This is the usual thrust of anti Muslim posts and articles on the Net. Muslims are seen as an internal cancer on the otherwise healthy and homogenous body of whatever nation they have moved to.

It's not much of a stretch to recall Hitler doing much the same spin to demonize Jews in the 1930's.

You really are an Islamaphobe.
Here you are claiming you know what Muslim women are thinking and that you alone should be the protector of their rights and that you alone should tell them what to wear.

But here in Canada we actually talk to people and listen to what they want.
And what do Muslim women say about the hijab if you ask them?

http://ccmw.com/women-in-niqab-speak-a-study-of-the-niqab-in-canada/

You, FAST, are most definitely not a spokesman for Muslim women or human rights.

They're not false and you're lucky you didn't say Idiots to Oagre he would run to the Mods in a beat. Waaaaa
Maybe I'll go to the mods then about you clowns continually repeating the absolutely false claim that I would ever agree with someone who suggested sending Jews back to the concentration camps. Perhaps the manager of Terb can search the archives and see if they can find such a sentiment that I supported? Or not.

In my experience growing up and living near many non-Christian immigrants, most are happy to celebrate the non-religious parts of Christmas. Usually the first store to put up decorations is the Shia Lebanese falafel place down the street.

but I guess one would have to be a little more open minded.
Open minded would mean accepting that some Canadians decide to follow religious or cultural traditions and IT IS ABSOLUTELY ZERO IMPOSITION on anyone else.

I wouldn't say all. I'm sure there are some who would face domestic violence if they went out in more standard western attire but our laws are designed to protect them from their abuser just like our laws protect them from people who want to ban them from wearing any hint of their non-Christian beliefs.

And yes, domestic abuse is a difficult thing to police but that is true whether the people are Muslim, Buddhist, or just every day Christian.
