Student arrested at Northern Secondary for no reason

Read the cp24 story, the student attacked the police prior, it's not shown on the video. The video only shows what happened after the attack while the officer was arresting the student. Nothing wrong with asking the student for his name if the police officer was attacked.

Now it gets messy. Because the Globe says the assault happened when he was resisting arrest.

Either way he was a dumb kid. It's not the seventh sign of the apocalypse.

You think a kid who's minding his own business in a school hallway is going to attack an officer for no reason? Or attack him because the officer asked his name?

The cop was power tripping. He asked the kid for his name, and the kid wouldn't give it to him. I bet then the cop asked him again, and he replied along the lines of, "I don't have to give you my name bacon" (cp24 story says the kid called him bacon), so the cop power tripped and arrested him. The assault while resisting arrest is just a bogus charge tacked on to justify the cop, arresting him for such a petty thing.

The instigation is irrelavent on either side. The cop was in the school at the request of the lawfull authorities, he did not recognize somebody in the hall and asked the person to identify himself, he refused.

At this apoint the cop has the authority to detain the person until such time as he is identified, by a teacher for instance. The assault charge is interesting as assault has a very wide definition in the criminal code.

I tell you, kids to-day have no appreciation for how lucky they are to be attending school in Canada. There are a billion kids outside Canada who would gladly give their left testicle to attend school (and for free).

When I was a kid, I use to walk 10 miles in 3 feet high snow to get to class. No, I did not have an iPhone either.
