If we're going to further affield then I'd like to add a couple. That place at the corner of Hwy 31 and Rideau Rd. where that dancer was murdered. Various incarnations over the years. According to Google Maps, now called Tease. There was one in the Voyageur Inn near where Montreal Rd. meets the 417. Carlsbad Springs had one which is now that barbeque place. I seem to recal one on the road from the 417 either to Moose Creek or Cornwall that was literally in the middle of nowhere. The Richmond Inn in beautiful downtown Richmond had girls Thurs/Fri and Saturdays only and finally there was one in Arnprior. A buddy drags me out there one night. No girls except for the bartender. "Are you sure this is the right place?" Sure enough she turns the music up a bit louder, heads over to a small stage in the corner and does her thing. Puts her clothes back on and comes up to us "Youse guys want 2 more beers?"

May I add "The Oasis" in of all places, Ramsayville?

And after Jason's, the club in Kanata was known as "The Polar Bare Club" before finally closing.

That would have been the Madawaska Hotel in the 'Prior, also known as the 'Madhouse'!

It's long gone now and well before my time but I've heard some of the strip club old timers reminisce about the wild times to be had at Bar L'Eclipse in Rigaud including FS which was unheard of back in the day. Apparently on weekends the parking lot would be full of cars with NY State licence plates its reputation for total debauchery was that widespread !

Actually the Albion was just known as the Albion. It featured dancers in the afternoon and switched to a lounge after six. The facade was preserved when they built the Rideau Centre. I vaguely remember the Red Den was the Red Lion lounge in the old Grand hotel on Besserer, which also had dancers of a sort. The superannuated sort. It also was torn down for the Rideau Centre.
Regarding the continuity of licences, Barrymores itself put in girls in the afternoons for a while, long after Pandora's Box.

Seem to recall what you refer to here re Barrymore's. When it was still being run primarily as a live-music venue, the owner at the time attempted to drum up some daytime business by operating the venue as a sort-of SC during the afternoons. I recall an article (Ottawa Citizen?) suggesting that this was done somewhat reluctantly, with the owner's wife not being particularly pleased about it.

No it was Called Barbarella's.

Diamonds was the name of the club on Queen where Barbarella's is now. I know as I was one of the first DJ's at Barbarella's on Bank previously Spinner 50s/60s dance bar. The staff and management was comprised of several former employees of Fanny's before the sale to Andre of Pink Panther.

Strip Clubs I worked at in the 80s/90s
Hubba Bubba's on Richmond Road
Fanny's on Bank
Valentino's
The Lido
as the bars were all owned and operated by the Bentivoglio family at the time I also covered shifts at
The Playmate, Gypsy Rose, The Bare Fax on several occaisons and twice even at the Lipstick bar (male strippers) above the lido on the hull strip.
That was Habba Babbas - Saw girl shoot ping pong balls out her vjajay and smoke a cigarette.

Valentino's Lounge on Somerset had great ladies and a nice layout. The strip club went up in flames sometime in February 1992. It took more than a decade for the site to be redeveloped as condos.

Hull
Lido
There were actually two stripclubs on the Promenade du Portage strip in Hull in the early 90s. The Lido was street level but there was another one on the 2nd floor, I believe further down the street and at a street corner. Someone mentioned Lipstick as a male dancer place above Lido; maybe it's the same place I'm thinking of but it was definitely female dancers the time I went.

Who remembers "Paradise pleasure" I think it was called. On top of taboo.
I remember that place...early 2000s ...didn't last too long..don't remember the name. I do remember they had a doorman outside in full tux and white gloves..funny. I also remember the dancers sometimes wore pasties the times I went...I guess they didn't have the right licence for alcohol mixed with stripping or whatever. Like I said it only lasted about 6 months I believe.

BTW, Taboo was called Club 67 or something like that back in the 80s.

There were two strip clubs in Cornwall. One was called Player's Club, it was up on Pitt Street, and was the classier of the two. The other was basically surrounded by the old paper mill, its name escapes me. While it couldnt match the Rigaud for outright debauchery, all of the private booths were curtained off, not only from the floor but also from each other, and I'm talking floor to ceiling curtains all around. They also used to bring in a lot of dancers from Quebec, and it was pretty much anything goes, at least as far as I wanted to go
Body Shop?

let's not forget Taboo in Gatineau which is now a church. Club 77 is renamed Bar 77 (licensing issue with Gatineau), and thankfully still open

My Dad used to go to HB often. It was 20 minute walk. My Mom didn't like him going there so often.

I definitely miss the original Barbarella's. A stage that looked like a catwalk, a screen playing videos behind the dancers and lots of 9s and 10s. Valentino's was amazing, too. The original Den was also a frequent haunt. Certainly worth going there when Blondie Butler was the feature.

where was the previous Den? Before the present Nuden
The Den was located on Russell Road, halfway between Industrial Avenue and Elmvale. If you were walking, you had to pass several other buildings in the parking area to get to the Den. It was a barn-y looking place and quite large.

Never went to Fanny's on Bank St. (around Barrymore's if I recall correctly) but do remember the place after it moved to York St. (east of Dalhousie I think). Recall it was a somewhat small, second floor establishment with a very loud sound system. Mostly remember a lovely blonde dancer there named Amber - she always carried a small purse/handbag fashioned from a Texas licence plate.

Before closing the club went through a succession of different names. At one point it had the unfortunate moniker 'O'Ladies' and there might have been a name between that and 'Fanny's'. Did it end its life as 'Minx' or was that before 'O'Ladies'? If it wasn't called 'Minx' at one point, I'm also unaware of where this club ('Minx') might have been, unless we are going way back in the wayback machine.

(Ah. Posted this before I saw WIR's clarification of this above. Seems that 'Minx' was one of the iterations of the 'other' York St. SC.)
R__d_ott - thank you for the sweet words. Amber.
