It's actually the Toronto Police Service. If you're a woman I'd imagine stupid johns are more bothersome than streetwalkers. Presumably TPS was responding to complaints from that half of the taxpaying public.

Yeah I heard that too G-Unit. I guess they figured, well the one girl was a cop, what are the odds of this girl also being a cop...

What is wild, is that this area has what, about 5-10 MP places and numerous In-call SPs. From what I read there was ZERO busts at any of those establishments, just dudes trying to pick up the female undercover cops from the street. So I guess it really is safer for all concerned to go the Escort or MP route.

Really hope that those Toronto Prostitute ladies will win their court case, as it just makes so much more sense for there to be regulated places where people can go to get their fuck on, and where ladies can provide that fuck for the appropriate fee. :D

I mean selling is legal. Fucking is legal. And in Canada even the selling of the fucking is legal. You just can't communicate or negotiate upon the price for the fucking, or have a known "house of fucking" as that is a bawdy house.

And right now, I would imagine that there are probably a good 100-200 illegal bawdy houses in Toronto. So what are they going to do, shut them all down? And if they legalized it and charged HST on it like everything else, they would make, easily a good $30 million a year just in Ontario.

I mean let's assume that there are 3,000,000 Escort/Client transactions in Ontario a year. And let's say that of $100 a fuck the gooberment was to take $10. Well that is $30 million. Even if it is only 1,000,000 transactions a year, that is still $10 million that the gooberment could make just by making bawdy houses legal. That is just in taxes. Add in Licensing fees, inspection fees, property taxes, etc. and we are looking at a very profitable enterprise for our gooberment to be involved in.

They already make money off of cigarettes and alcohol, and hopefully, real soon, legalized WEED, so why not make some money off of good qulaity HO'S! Come on government, pimping ain't easy, but it sure is fun.

And that would mean more 'Bottom Bitches' would have jobs!! :)

How good are those MP and In-calls SPs business? If they are good why those street girls dont move indoor?

So what does that mean for the indoor businesses? Will the TPS try to lean on these establishments? A risky business for all concerned could become too risky for many. I'm not a TO resident- what's the feeling on the ground, is this a flash in the pan or the beginnings of something more that visitors and locals need to be wary of? :(

When the hell did the Danforth turn into SW action??
This has to be a newspaper printing error, no??!!

No! It's got a lot to do with the growing muslim population in that area of East York. Arranged marriages may lead to family stability and a lack of divorce, but it also leads to lots and lots of sexless relationships and very, very, very horny men. It also doesn't hurt that quite a few of them are cab drivers who have lots of cash in their pockets and are out driving all night and are available for quickies.

8 of the guys busted during the last LE sweep were cab drivers, mostly for Beck Taxi, which now has almost 100% Afghan and Pakistani drivers.

A friend on the force also told me that almost all of the johns cited had names like Muhammed, Akhbar, Hussein, Ali, Mustapha, Khalid etc...

If Craigslist would just put out a website in Urdu I'm sure this problem would get fixed quick. lol.

Combining a high probably of mental health issues with a high probability of a serious substance abuse problem pretty much rules out doing shifts or keeping appointments. Or they just like the fresh air.

I love the phrase, "Some of the women may have been.."

Here, let me try it out:

"George Mammolito may have been seen carrying a bag that might have contained hundreds of thousands of dollars of bribe money."

It's interesting that Georgio is going after spas and the illegal sex trade. I'm sure it is a problem for some in his ward, but surely there are more pressing issues to be dealt with, to further to common good.

Like.. how about bike lanes on Finch... and Hwy 27 (at least the part that runs thru his ward)... that's what the people of Toronto REALLY want.. so they can merrily pedal their way to work through the slush and snow in December and January...

These guys are chowderheads....

Need I remind everyone that there is an open race for mayor in this city, and I can assure you there will be much more grandstanding done in the direction of the flourishing sex trade.

I'm not saying anything is right or wrong, only it's a convenient target during a mayoral race.

It's easy to look like youre doing something and score points where no one prepared to stand and defend it.

Thankfully, according to Chief Blair, the Toronto Police Service does NOT take it's marching orders from City Hall.

In Vancouver they have housing for women with mental health and addictions. They are allowed guests, and therefore can work out of their rooms.
Instead of the police busting the johns of the outdoor workers it would be so much better to try to help the workers to receive housing, health care and a safer place to work.
Arresting their clients takes away their means of survival...just making everything worse for them. Bad move in my opinion.
Toronto is so conservative.
