Take it to the CON SCOTUS!
The way those whacked out Plutocracy leaning CON SC Justices are thinking, they may go for that next....
Then you wouldn't have much of a say at all would you? When was the last time you paid income taxes in 6 figures, much less 7 ( and that's not counting the pennies there Woody) ?

why do he and gates run a foundation, where they control where their (oops it is their's) money goes? dont they think the government in its infinite wisdom could do better with it than the Foundation can? why not just give it all to government?
Wow. You're mental. Sorry, I didn't realize that. I'll bear it in mind in the future.

because it is our money. Not Yours. Go get your own.
If you can't afford to live in our modern society, with the obligations that entails, maybe you're not as rich as you think.

Warren Buffet can certainly afford to, and so can I. I have no problem with my tax rate. Maybe you should go earn more money instead of whining that you don't have enough.

Well why don't you use "your money" to fun your army and your roads and your hospitals. Why should the government be building roads, and hospitals ans funding armies and police forces when you don't want to share "your money".

That was my point!
The selfish greedy rich feel their massive money 'entitles' them to do as they please while the peasants should just be glad to serve as their serfs....

Awhile ago, there was a post showing that the rich, very rich and super rich pay much of what the US takes in, as if they were somehow more deserving than those who contribute their 'widow's mite'. Clearly US taxpayers as a whole aren't contributing enough, or there'd have been no Debt Discussions Crisis recently. Of course there are still those fairytale believers who think some magic legislator or swivel servant will do what's never in recorded history been done before and bring them a government that lives within its means, because they've cut taxes, leaving the spending to be cut by those magic folks.

But for us rational folks, given that half the taxes in that post came from people whose income was $38,000 or less, who else has the ability to pay more if not the Buffetts and their ilk?

Warren Buffet paid a average tax of 17.3% because he chose to take all his income as capital gains. If he was so concerned about paying higher taxes why didn't he pay himself a salary and pay 35% federal income tax on it? Why doesn't he also mention that his company where he owns 35% of the stock, paid corporate taxes at an avg rate of 29%? Furthermore, nothing is stopping him from writing a cheque to the gov't for what he thinks he should have paid in taxes on his income.

Sure there is. He's not stupid. He also gives his money to people who really need it, nearly $2 BILLION to charity.

i am happy to share for things that benefit me and the collective society. Including education, health care, roads, etc ... it just seems to me that the more we spend on a lot of things, the worse they get. I also believe that it is up to me to educate myself, stay healthy, drive well, be smart on the streets so Im not in danger.

95% of absolute dollar value of taxes individuals in the US pay come from abt 5% of the population. govt revenues exploded higher in the Bush years actually. he just expanded spending way too much and he was a rank amateur compared to this guy. thats why the tea party is standing strong on cuts certain cuts, not just minimal slowdown to the growth rate of spending before even discussing the revenue side. shame on us all for the overhang we are putting on our kids and grand kids. canadas in better shape thank goodness, although I still dont know how ontario runs the deficits it does. they are scary.

I really have a lot of respect for a man about to give away 85% of his net worth. He figures he can get along on ~5$billion. A very smart person told me he was never impressed with people who had lots of money. He was more impressed with what they do with that money. You can pick on him if you want, but how much of your money have you given way to charity.

I'm not picking on him at all I'm simply saying he should consider following his own advice.... if he feels strongly enough about it to write an op-ed column then perhaps he should whip out his checkbook.
