In a move, clearly taking the limelight away from the Senate chat, Flaherty, Clement and the Conservative team announced that the books are in order and they are tracking for a comfortable surplus in 2015.

Awesome news...in just over a years time....as planned, and while the rest of the world struggles in mismanagement, our government has steered a flawless ship, and kept Canadians proud. We are SO LUCKY to live in our great country, guided by a government who maintains an even keel.

Great Job Steve!!!

The bad things that he does cancels this out. The educated people know whats up with the Neo-Con agenda, their policies make them traitors to the working/middle class. They have sold our sovereignty out, point blank period.

consider the poster...rhetorical question...

For those of us more intellectually inclined, who keep up with current affairs, it is real!

A balanced budget with a comfortable surplus.

IN 2015.

Stephen Harper is a Prime Minister, mostly because he is an economist!

Dood, the Stephen Harper "hidden agenda" is so 2006. where have you been? Its been 7 years since Harper has been our PM, and his inner Hitler has not revealed itself. In fact the country has done ok (some might even say amazing) over the past 7 years.

This is not the first time Harper's government has predicted a balance budget. I wonder what excuse they will use when they fail to achieve this.

It is obviously just an announcement made for the purpose of changing the conversation away from the corruption in the PMO. Given that we're not that stupid and still see his administration's many faults, I'd say it was a poor job.

Here is an Ottawa Dispatch. More coming next week. So e nice ideas.

OTTAWA -- Federal finances will show a "comfortable surplus" by the 2015 fiscal year, says Treasury Board President Tony Clement.

He used the terminology Sunday while talking about Finance Minister Jim Flaherty's drive toward eliminating the feds' $18.9 billion budget deficit.

"His goal now is to have a comfortable surplus by 2015," Clement told CTV. "I think you'll hear some language about that next Tuesday."

That's when Flaherty delivers his fall fiscal update at a lunch hosted by the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce.

Clement says the balanced budget is important so the government "can keep some of the promises we made during the last election campaign."

They've promised "income-sharing for couples with children" for as much as $50,000 worth of income, reducing families' income tax burden.

The Tories also promised to double the kids' fitness tax credit to $1,000, create a $500 adult fitness tax credit, and raise the tax-free savings annual account contribution limit to $10,000 following a balanced budget.

So far he has done a good job of keeping the hidden agenda hidden. However, it is clearly there. The recent policy conference where they proposed the policy of criminalizing buying sex, and a host of other social conservative issues, clearly shows that the hidden agenda is still well and truly present.

I will give Harper credit for holding the loons in check, but it seems that the loons are gaining strength within the party. It is only a matter of the time before their agenda seeps into legislation.

You are likely eluding Fuji to the fact that Harper has great management skills not only of the Nation, but his own party as well. Keep in mind, the hidden agenda..if it exists...is in check.
Until then Fuji Boy...Stay the course...stay the course.

Yes he does have great management skills, and yes there is a hidden agenda, and yes he is having to keep it in check.

How much longer can he keep it in check? It's plainly an issue that every Canadian should be asking about and demanding answers about.

(See unlike you I am not an idiotic partisan, I am capable of assessing reality -- you're not -- all of your statements are purely partisan with no thought whasoever.)
