The results of the invasions started under Bush II can now be tallied up:

1. USA Expenditures of $3-4Trillions.

2. USA and coalition deaths 10,000 wounded 100,000

3 Civilians killed 1,000,000

4. Iran and Iraq are in a close alliance. USA asked to leave.

5. USA is negotiating to leave Afghanistan with the Taliban in control.

4. Russia and Syria are in a close alliance

6. Turkey has effectively left Nato.

Brilliant, yes brilliant (if you have no brain)

I don't disagree about how expensive and naive these invasions were; they made a lots of mistakes, in particular with Iraq, like attempting nation building in the ME or disbanding Iraq's army after Saddam

But Iraq is now the only Arab democracy, their alliance with Iran was inevitable because Shias are the majority of the population; Saddam's regime (and before him) was about a Sunni minority ruling Shias and Kurds. With democracy it is going to be a Shia majority dominating the Sunnis and Kurds. US tried to build a multicultural government, where minorities would had a voice, but this was of course naive in a tribal country.

USA should leave these places (Turkey included) the US doesn't need them, there are enough good allies to focus on. If Afganistan or Irak reverts to tribal or islamic regimes, we shouldn't care. The west should stop taking these "refugees", they hate us, let them figure out how to live or die

Turkey is leaving Europe, but that is 100% due to Mr Erdogan, he is an autocrat like his friends Putin. he doesn't belong in civilized Europe. Russia and Syria had been in alliance for more than 40 years, Tartus had been the main Soviet naval base in the Mediterranean during the cold war.

Totally wrong.

Tunisia and Lebanon are the closest to functioning democracies, though both have major issues.
Iraq is still pretty much a failed state, only slightly more functional than Syria.

The US is now allied with Saudi Arabia, UAE and Israel, the three most repressive countries in the middle east while Russia works with China to gain influence in more moderate countries.

The US should get out there and stop creating failed states that flood the world with refugees.
Fighting for oil is stupid.
