The Prime Universe Of Star Trek Returns!

:couch2: :clap2:

Alex Kurtzman has confirmed that Star Trek: Picard will focus on the repercussions of the destruction of Romulus and how they affected Picard.
Slowly, ever so slowly, some details are starting to emerge about Star Trek: Picard and what fans can expect when the show arrives.

Until now, about the only details fans knew was that Sir Patrick Stewart was returning to the role and that it would pick up about 20 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis. And that was about it until we found out last month that it was eyeing a late 2019 release date on CBS All Access.

Now however, showrunner Alex Kurtzman has revealed another bit on information, and it’s a doozy.

In an expansive interview with The Hollywood Reporter about all things Trek, Kurtzman said that in the new series, Picard’s life has been “radically altered” by the fact that the Romulan Star Empire is no more. This of course is likely due to the fact that Romulus was destroyed by a supernova, as we all saw in the 2009 Star Trek reboot. Which, incidentally, Kurtzman also co-wrote.

(And yes. This fact does call into question the whole alternate timeline of the reboot Trek films and how exactly this will all work out. Honestly, don’t think about it too much and just enjoy the fact Picard is coming back. The details will all shake out down the road, you can be sure.)

If the new Picard series begins 20 years after Nemesis, then that means it will have been more than a decade since the destruction of Romulus. How any of this would affect Picard though is something of a mystery.

I’d have strongly preferred if they just pretended Nemesis never happened. That movie fucked up so many things, it really shouldn’t be part on the canon.

20 years after Nemesis, you don't say. I wonder if Sir Patrick will pay his IOU?

I've already told the story. The nose is from stills of Fall of Eagles.

I was hoping it was going to be more of a post STNG thing because that’s so much more significant than what happened in the movies. I did like Nemesis though. I guess I’ll have to watch it again to really piece together the timeline.
Tbh I’m still stunned Sir Pat is even doing this and am likely to enjoy it no matter it’s about.

Wow I am super impressed. Only half way through and am getting blown away.

I was specifically impressed how they present topics like artificial intelligence, quantum consciousness, and the social dynamics of different species and levels of evolution and their interactions.

Also Isa Briones is HAF and love at first sight also talking about this stuff. I am fucking dead.

This is definitely an evolution in the series, the topics covered and a more realistic projection of social dynamics of the future. Also love how they bring back the Borg into all this lol

Although it’s not as thrilling as Discovery the topics hold more substance, intelligence and depth.
