I'm going to state an unpopular opinion. First, this is entrapment. Second, they're innocent until proven guilty, that's why their faces are blurred. And third, don't accuse me of sympathizing with them. I just see this as setting a very bad precedent.
In the US, they do adult prostitution stings. Entrapment of regular John's looking for adult SPs. Think about that the next time you book a call.
I agree with your unpopular opinion, but I am going to point out something related.
In the U.S., when law enforcement does entrapment stings, any reasonable person could spot it from a mile away. The lady has no reviews, the price is low, and the discussion is blatant sex for money initiated by the “lady”. No U.S. guy who has spent any time on TER or ECCIE would fall for it in a minute. Yet they snare 100 guys, many well educated, every time.
Here (and the same is the case in the U.S. when they do underaged stings), it is made clear that the lady is underaged. Like crystal fucking clear. But they get lots of calls and requests for sessions, which leads to arrests.
There have been some ladies from the Backpage days who have spoken openly about starting in this business when they were under 18. One is a U.S. comedian. I am not talking about trafficked women here. I am talking about ladies who used their older sister‘s ID. Every single one of them studied really hard to adopt a fake adult persona. Saying they were in college and/or employed. With specifics. None of them said they were under 18.
Basically in any country in the world, if you are seeing an ad, and/or if you are conversing with a lady, and she says she is under 18, you are talking to law enforcement.
Just how is every guy arrested here this stupid? Is it a compulsion? If so, that makes entrapment a little harder to argue. Entrapment occurs when the target does something he otherwise would not do. Fortunately, advertising venues do more security checks, and it is now more difficult for minors to advertise.
Here would be another unpopular opinion. Maybe these types of stings are good for the guys here. In the U.S., the obvious stings satisfy a lot of quotas. No U.S. John who studies how the industry works and sees ladies who are reviewed and who screen gets caught up in them. So it strangely keeps them safer when law enforcement does entrapment stings. Maybe the police prioritization policy in Canada following c-36 is more likely to stay in place if Canada does the occasional sting like this. Everyone here would hopefully realize they were dealing with law enforcement when they saw the ad and/or heard under 18, and would have exited without incidence.
