The Tamils have gone through enough shit back in their homeland and they want to make awareness of it here. I completely understand that but enough is enough. Stop the protests please. The majority of people that just don't get it are getting more pissed off than ever before.

Thanks for the compliment and I should have corrected my earlier comment as what I meant to say was that I don't mind that they are protesting in something that they believe in but not on the Gardiner Expressway. The general public is getting pissed off more than anything and I really do hope that a mutual agreement can come into affect with all parties involved. The bloodshed in that country is horrible and the government (army) is unbelievably corrupt. I am not Sri Lankan but know many of them and they have told me first hand of their experience and their loves ones current experiences.

Way too many racist comments on this thread, full of hatred and intolerance. While many obviously don't agree with the way the protest is being run, there are civilized ways to communicate those views. The vast majority of the protesters are not terrorists, but are deeply concerned about family and loved ones in Sri Lanka. They are desperately trying to obtain help to stop the horrors going on in Sri Lanka. I am not Tamil, but can empathize with them.

I beg to differ on that. Look at the footage of the highway occupation. Not only was the crowd (using teenagers and children as their front line) brandishing LTTE flags, and wearing LTTE shirts, the common chant was “LTTE Freedom Fighters”.

So let’s see they’re waving the flag of an internationally recognized Terrorist group, wearing shirts with the logo of an internationally recognized Terrorist group, holding signs of the leader of an internationally recognized Terrorist group and yet they shouldn’t be called terrorist sympathizers?

Let’s also remember that the horrors going on right now in Sri Lanka is because the LTTE decided to make its last stand in a densely populated area surrounded by human shields that they are not letting escape.

If the local Tamils really want to highlight the issues of the plight of their homeland maybe they should not be ensconced in the colours of the group that is causing this to happen.
