I understand that you want to bring global awareness about the fighting that is happening in Sri Lanka. I understand that you want governments from around the world to step in and stop the fighting.
BUT....
causing traffic disruptions does not help bring a positive light to you fellow countrymen's plight, but it brings a negative light to YOU. Acting like hooligans like you are right now on the Gardnier is not helping you.

There is a right way to protest, and there is a wrong way.

Gather your thousands of supporters and do it in front of City Hall !!!

That's it for my rant right now.

I suggest they all go on this "hunger strike" I've heard them bring up in news. That should kill off a few of them.

...and why are they trying to get the attention of the Ontario government? What's a provincial government going to do, send the OPP to Sri Lanka? The Premier just provided a statement saying that he understands the Tamil peoples' plight...empty and powerless words. The Tamils should organize and demonstrate in Ottawa where the Federal government has the jurisdiction to do something on the international stage.

You really don't want to know
Honestly look at the pictures on TV of what's going on. All I see is LTTE flags, basically the main arterial expressway in Canada's largest city has been occupied by a terrorist group using human shields.

I saw we pull a play from the Lastman handbook and place a call down to Fort York and mobilize the troops.

Since the gov't agreed to send aid if the University Ave. protest ceased, I think it would now be prudent to recinde the offer as this is contrary to gov't good faith.

Sometimes people can do stupid things. This is a perfect example.

I respect a person's or group's freedom of speech...but not at the cost of public safety and welfare. The Tamils have crossed the fine line.

i just listened to OPP police chief julian fantino basically say they can't remove them because they have a right to be there, and we would be violating their right to protest if they used force.

what about the rights of people who live and work here in the city of torontom, who are trying to go home, go to work, or whatever?

message to the city of toronto...GROW A SET, call in the army, and get these fucks of off the streets, period!

i am not insensitive to their cause, but when you infringe on other's rights to further your own cause, then all bets are off.

give them until midnite, then take the next step. you want to protest? get on a plane, boat, whatever the fuck, and go back to your homeland and do it where it matters. i don't fucking care, nor do most others! this latest move has basically nullified any sympathy they may have been getting, and has now angered pretty much the whole city. bunch of assholes!

let's not just blame the Tamils with this one they had help,
part of the "other" unions were the CAW, i guess they can't win vs the "bailouts" so they need to vent somewhere else...
As usual, the LLL is right in the middle of it.

If these morons are still on the road tomorrow morning when I've got to commute into the core of the city I'm going to be so pissed.

I support anyone's right to protest but this has gone way to far. The police need to round up the leaders of this nonsense and lock them up. If we don't stop this soon I'm afraid they are going to get bolder and more desperate in their attempts to garner attention.

And where the F! Is The mayor? He better be down there. Or is he busy trying to stop planes from landing on the island?
