Some SPs advertixe themselves as selective. As far as I can tell this generally means that they are high-priced - and only selective as far as selecting customers who can afford their rates. Are there SPs who use other criteria to choose their clients - other than $$$ - if so, what are the criteriea that is applied? How do they ensure that their client meet the criteria?

Well this is just what I assume "selective" means to high priced SP's

-They are looking to converse either on the telephone or through e-mail bookings to hear/read how the customer presents himself (well spoken, gentlemen, OR ghetto pain in the ass)

-The SP may be a tad bit shallow and wants a Calvin model customer

-The SP want to screen out the nutcases

-The SP wants to feel that it is an actual date, so she wants to see someone her type

-OR she's just picky

hmmm....IMHO

Being selective does not necessarily mean you are high priced in my opinion. I do not put my phone number on my web page and select the men that I do give my number out to. I would say it is all mannerism/attitude of men that get them in the no boat. Also instict plays a part in that as well. If I get a bad vibe why would I want that person calling me to begin with. Myself I like things clear from the get go and to know that I have comfort in knowing that I approved someone even before they call.

Most of the time when they say they're selective, it means absolutely nothing. They'll book with anyone who's interested. It just makes the the client feel "special" when she agrees to see him because she's so "selective".

She may, however, end up being more selective once she's met the guy.

There's one in Ottawa who doesn't advertise as such, but she is. She likes the young bucks, and if you're an old guy, it's work to rule. Take the hint and don't bother coming back, I guess.
There is another one who told me that if a guy smells bad, she will tell him not to call again.

Good question havingfun, I agree with Tina. Its pretty obvious that there are quite a few arses out there and that the lady may want to screen out the nutcases. I guess it depends on the lady in question. Some may say 'selective' and it means nothing.

Others want to pick and choose the customers (clients) they see. That is why they went independent. If a lady can establish a database of guys that she enjoys and they love sharing their time with her, then all is good.

If I was an SP, I'd force people to send me notes from the doctor, the shrink, the accountant, and the bikini waxer all attesting to their overall health and worthiness.

No shit. I never fault an SP for being selective. I'd be!

I'm not a metrosexual, so I don't know about the bikini waxer.

As for the note from the shrink, some of us don't feel the need to see a shrink.

Generally, I have never encountered any problems with the SPs who are selective, and I'm not a doctor or a lawyer. I think if you are a reasonably well-adjusted person, you are going to be OK in most cases.

Generally, I prefer to exchange a couple of e-mails or have a telephone conversation with a SP before the appointment, just to ensure that there is some sense of a rapport with her. I prefer to have some idea of who the SP is as an individual before booking the appointment, just as I'm sure the SP's wish to do as well with their clients. Sincerely, Jon .

If they ask me if I offer greek I sit back stare at the letter for about an hour laughing my head off. But, yes it does show that they are not seriously interested, if they were they would have taken the time to read the web page. They may not realize that is a first strike against them because then they send another e mail and you read through thier answers and I read both and judge if they are serious from both replies. If they mail back after I send my questions and say yeah that is fine what is your number after that they are out.

Thanks for the responses, especially Stacey4u2luv and Alexa Taylor. I have never considered that any kind of screening process occurs when I call an SP. I have always thought that if a customer has the money to pay then an SP will see him. Obviously, at least sometimes, there is more to the equation. I have never asked any questions when I call an SP. The entire conversation from my end consists of, "Hi I saw your advertisement and was wondering if you are available tonight?". Before I call I have made up my mind that the SP I am calling is someone I want to see and I have no intention of "interviewing" her on the phone - the "interview" is the time we have together ... if it's good I'll see her again. If not, I'll see someone else the next time. However, sometimes, I have detected some hesitation when an SP answers whether she is available or not. And now I realize that sometimes they are looking for more of a conversation on the phone and a chance to apply their screening process. And that's fair enough. Just something I had never considered.

Stacy, in your experience, what is your percentage of acceptable clients verses the ones that you turn away? The reason why I'm asking is that I noticed that you live in the east-end of Mississauga, which by my experience, is not an area that Donald Trump visits on a regular-basis, if you know what I mean. It's a great area if you want to go and buy a new gun, but otherwise, the mannerism/attitude of the people in that area leaves a lot to be desired. No offense; I'm justing thinking that since you are a generous and reputable SP, you deserved to be in a better area (which will ultimately help your screening).

Until the next time....

I have lots of men coming into the airport and would say I accept about 99% of them but as for the locals I would say it is only about 80%.
