Here is the Problem, Don't PM me BTW for support or help..... It wont happen..
I have been in the Satellite Business for the last 20 some years now as a dealer, installer and at time i have written my own software (fixes)
Here is the problem and why your support dies... Most dealers do not make the fixes nor would most have any idea how to! Its the same way with the old Directv fixes. One guy rights them gets a few grand for it and everybody else cashes in large on it. I knew some dealers that made huge money back in the day of VCII fixes But the actual writer usual makes jack shit.. He writes and fixes and corrects things for maybe $5000 and the guy that has paid him $5000 just finished buying his new $500,000 home and pays cash for the most part on it... They get pissed off and in the end tell everybody to go screw them selfs, including the dealer that just bough the half a million dollar home...
Now i have not been involved in this FTA fixes but it was free from my understanding, well someone spent time at their machine making these fixes and you think they are going to keep doing it for Free? Would You?
Think about this the next time you get pissed off that their is no fix for this or no fix for that.. Hey Your ripping off programming.... In the end you may see yourself shelling out more for Piracy then an actual subscription...
I am one of the smucks who purchased a Coolsat 6000 about 2 years ago. Programming it was pretty easy as the group that made the fixed posted them online.
The difference betwen FTA and the old DTV days is that each receive now has their own little fix and generally one is not compatible with the other. While receive companies would never admit to being behind the fixes without someone supporting their receiver no one would buy their brand.
I know some dealers would sell support but really in the FTA game that is just extra cash for them as programming them is pretty easy.
So while we never had to pay NORW for the fix, somewhere alone the line COOLSAT had to fund the fixes. They have retire the model and now looks like they also have stopped funding to NORW so they are no longer writing fixes fot these models.
So it is over for the CS 4000, 5000, and 6000. I am not complaining as I got good use out of mine. I am disppointed that NORW has not said anything as COOLSAT can not say anything at all.
So I am out to get a new receiver and since I have a choice it certainly would be a Coolsat model.
