Spinning Class

I've often thought Lance should be forced to ride a fixed-gear bike, to even things out.

However, to be honest, my interest in cycling is geared more towards this speed :p
Actually, if you ever watch Lance ride, you will notice his legs are usually pumping faster than most other riders around him... even though they are pretty much all moving at the same speed. Due to his physical attributes, he is able to ride at a faster cadence than most without getting tired or cramping up. Therefore he is usually a couple gears lower than his competitors. For this reason, the fixed gear thing would likely not work very well. LOL!

BTW snowpussy, I liked your video! Reminded me of a particular "biker-chick" I see from time to time. How I long for spring weather!

Lance rides a high cadence, but others have as well. Much of the lactic acid legend is a bit forced as well, and has been proven as such. There is no doubt he has a great work ethic, but there is also little doubt he is dirty (at least for me). I was on the fence, discounting the relationship with doping mastermind Ferrari, until I read "From Lance to Landis". It sealed it for me. If Lance could get it off the shelves, he would.

Personally, I am not sure why Lance is coming back other than he loves the limelight. If he rides clean, he will be beat. If he dopes, he runs the risk of being caught (again) and ruining his legacy.

For me LeMond is still the greatest American cyclist, with the greatest victory of all time. Eddy is still the king. Lance should have retired with whatever dignity he has left.

Garrett: Of course you are entitled to your opinion... no argument there.

"IF" Lance is doping, he hasn't been caught, so there is no credibility to your claim... Regardless, I could care less. I am of the firm belief that, at THIS level, every athlete is doing everything he/ she can do to get an edge so who REALLY cares.

Although I admire the guy for what he's done, (6 consecutive tours de France!) and have read a lot about his accomplishments, I admire him more for what he is doing off his bike than on.

I have said before my father is a cancer survivor, and Lance is now dedicating much of his time to fighting this devastating disease. If he is using his celebrity to raise capital for cancer research and awareness, how can we fault him for that. The Livestrong organization is first rate in my opinion... I just happen to be a cyclist as well...

Oh, and by the way... his "comeback" is to further the LiveStrong organization and to raise cancer research funds and awareness... Before he had all sorts of sponsors plastered all over his equipment... now there is an overwhelming dominance of one name: "LIVESTRONG".

If you wanna fault the guy for that... that is your right.

Lance has been caught using banned substances. People who have ridden with him and worked with him have testified he is dirty. If you think it does not matter if people are clean or dirty any more, that is your right as well. What is clear is detection is behind doping technology (whether Riis, Miller, Pantani, etc). However, as an ex-racer and long time cycling fan, cycling has no integrity now, in large part due to Armstrong. You simply do not work with Dr Ferrari unless you want his very special "skill".

My wife died from cancer. I think Livestrong has been positive as an organisation, but I simply do not condone cheating. It is that simple. I also do not think I faulted him for Livestrong, I faulted him for cheating. As for what is on his bike, that is between him and his sponsor and whatever deal he has worked out. There is a reason why stage winners zip up when they cross the line, and it is not because they are suddenly chilly.

I just started riding last year and got a great Specialized bike and enjoy it alot. But I must say that this thread has made me feel very bad.

I need to get to a class and motivate myself by staring at some fine spinning ass!

Cycleguy are you riding in the Ride to conquer cancer this June ?
Unfortunately I can't make it to that event... prior commitments with family.

I will however be riding in a similar event in my hometown (I'm not from Toronto...) the weekend prior.
