Speeding ticket is against your drivers liscense, not the car. Depending on the amout and points your insurance will probably find out at renewal time

tell the Insurance company becouse come renewwal time if you don't admit it -they will find out then cancel your coverage and you will have to go to some 6-7 grand places.

Sorry fireman but you are mistaken on this one.

You are under no obligation to report a ticket to your company unless you are applying for a new policy. If the insurance company decides to order your drivers abstract at renewal and they find out that you have a ticket your rates may increase depending on your overall record.

Some insurance companies will surcharge for 1 ticket, most won't.

Don't worry about it.

What are you talking about?

Insurance companies don't always check every time. I don't think you are obligated to tell them unless they ask. And even if you do tell them out of the good of your heart it will not affect the way they rate you. One ticket usually does not increase the premiums. I got 2 tickets last year without premium increase.

info

First of all always put it to a court date if the cop doesn't show it is tossed out. If he is there hold it down if you can and set another date ie lawyer not there etc. Retain someone to fight it right before court date in case he shows He is only paid for 1st apperance so he may not show second time around and will be tossed. If renewal coming up and court date is after renewal it has no affect on premiums till a conviction. So if court a month after renewal you have a whole year until the insurance company realizes it.

I agree with fighting the ticket as well. Lord knows I've fought many a tickets and won due to tardy officers. One thing that is incorrect is the paid for attendance. It is now mandatory for police to go to court when scheduled. If they miss without having a ridiculously good reason, they will face punishment mostly in garnished wages.

Here and There
Had one ticket I set a court date for. Had a lawyer buddy of mine go to court with me. We put it off til another date. Put it off many more times and EVERY single time the little b@stard officer showed up. Must have done that five six times til finally it was dropped because of time limits. Was worth it since was a HUGE ticket!

Best thing to do is challenge the ticket, and thoroughly examine the ticket for errors. any errors is grounds for dismissal. If by chance the officer do show up in court admit guilt and get reduce fine and no demerit points.

To answer your question there premium doesn't go up, the only situation that there premium might go up if you ran a red light and the car was captured on red light camera's

I got a speeding ticket seven months ago for a ticket on the Allen expressway and they still haven't given me a court date.
I'm just curious if they give me a court date a year after incident and I lose the thing does it stay on driver's record for three years from date of the incident or three years from conviction time.
I hope my ticket got lost in the system or something and I never hear from them.
it's from the conviction time since you challenge the ticket it's not yet reflecting on your driver's abstract

Wrong. Only fatal errors on tickets allow the ticket to become void. Small errors such as mispelled name or uncrossed t's won't help you. I know, I've tried that and my lawyer informed me of the limits. The wrong date is a fatal error.

To answer someone else, the offence is recorded after sentencing, so if you get sentenced in March, then you will have the offence on record like herpes for 3 years.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. One more question, How long does a ticket stay in the police's database?
