tl;dr - be clean and discrete. Be clear on price and service. Be comfortable (room temp, water temp, towels, clothing etc), make me feel like I’m the only one there.
Agree on a place to put clothes and clarity on prices/services. The music speaker was a good suggestion, but also maybe a choice of music or something calming. If I had to endure listening to some shitty mumble rap blaring from a cell phone I’d just want to leave. I was very active 10 years ago and I’ve been to Vibe (now called luxe+many words I think), CMJ East and West, Sparxx, somewhere on Baseline, and a spot at Bank and Alta Vista next to Enterprise. That place was freezing cold, massage table in a big empty room with a shower down the hall. All the other places were comfortable and clean. I’ve only ever run into another visitor once, but the whole interaction with the girl was a bit awkward and I think she had kind of double booked. .
My experience in the past was that body slide was standard and SF2 was almost always standard. Sounds like that’s no longer the case.
Anyway, for me a spa should be discrete from the street, clean, intimate rooms, have hot water and decent towels, and manage traffic well (If you have two guys there, don’t use rooms next door to each other). Unscented body wash and mouthwash wth disposable cups , and gum or mints. Maybe a subtle (!!) scented oil/candle or incense. If I’m going to a spa, it’s to relax and be pampered, completely different than going to an indy SP. I like when the girl helps undress me, washes me, and then massages and slides around on me. Then a nice warm washcloth afterwards and a brief cuddle while I catch my breath.
