There are all types of SB. I am considering this route too. Some are local in Durham Region and more expensive as you get closer to the city. I'm entertaining a travel SB which you pay for travel and accommodations etc..and part ways when you return. I expect the cost to be about the cost of the flight, to and from airport, food and drinks, and maybe some cash or clothes but many I suspect and don't know for sure would be happy to get to a beach in the sun! Will report findings...I do know of one SB I know personally but considered about the privacy issue as well.
