Argumentum ad populum

In argumentation theory, an argumentum ad populum (Latin for "appeal to the people") is a fallacious argument that concludes a proposition to be true because many or most people believe it. In other words, the basic idea of the argument is: "If many believe so, it is so."

In this instance your logic does not apply. It is not a question of many people believing blackrock's statement therefore it is so, (or not, to your point). blackrock simply stated that many people have fuji on ignore. But do they? It is not uncommon to insuate support by making a statement like this. That said, I find fuji to be something of a pedant but do not have him on ignore.

Baystreeters make far more than 200k per year once they are established. If there ever was a place where the sky is the limit...it's there. You don't have to come from wealth, background or any ethnic group or education level. You work hard, hussle and take the required courses, put in the hours and make the necessary sacrifices and anyone can make it. For some it is easy than for others but that doesn't make it impossible.

Brampton is full of successful Indian businessmen who started by taking their meagre earnings and buying a thousand pairs of socks and sellling them at Flea Markets and re-investing and working harder.

The chinese lining Spadina and Markham and the Pacific Mall (and whatever other stereotypes I am missing) amde their won chances and luck by starting small and working up.

I know of Indian truckers who have started with not knowing how to speak english, getting a license, running the shit runs and today owning as many as 100 trucks/trailers. They are not satisfied with just getting by, they are driven to success.

Dismissing this by guys like Rockslinger who think the only path to success is the proverbial $200k Bay Street job (which of itself shows a lack of current understanding of the reality of Bay Street! LOL) is just being a loser and making excuses.

I did say in my post that 99% of Chinese, E.I.'s, among others are hard working and law abiding. I also accept Royson James statement that 95% of Jamaicans are hard working and law abiding (my Black roofer is a prime example). However, it would be great if Jamaicans can raise their 95% ratio to match the Chinese and E.I. examples.
No Bay Street is not the only way to success but it is one of the few places where an immigrant or child of an immigrant can rise to that level (Michael Lee Chin is an example).
BTW: I used the founder of Turtle Island as another example of an immigrant rags to riches story but not every immigrant can be a Michael Lee Chin or a Turtle Island founder.

A lot of jobs have "occupational hazards". It is small comfort I know, but the last 2 known full or part-time SP's murdered in Toronto were not murdered by clients, according to the police. In both cases, the alleged killer were known to the SP's, one was her roommate and the other was a "friend".
