Cold and rainy. My cat is asleep on the sofa. That seems like the best response.

How is everyone coping with this disgusting April?

I remember this time last year it was warm enough to take my snakes on a walk. This is absurd.

Some pretty big branches down in my neighbourhood, including an old City maple tree (a sugar maple) that split under the weight of the ice. I also noticed that almost nobody is shovelling or icing their walks now. I had to dig my ice-melt out of the garage (had already put it away for the season) and almost wiped out several times just going down my driveway to get to the front.

On Friday - I saw a Robin flying around - which is usually the first sign of Spring,,, LOL!

It's in reverse, we're getting March in April.

Lovely Shannon Bradbury was covering this mess on the ground all weekend. She was reporting from Hamilton Mountain and the idiots at TWN didn't even supply her with proper footwear. She's going to take her shift with tender buns.

At least summer starts in about 9 weeks... I really hope it falls on a weekend this year.

And just to cheer you up: Remember whatever falls as rain, would be ten times as deep if it was snow. Just a degree or two different and the 60mm of rain would have been 60cm of snow. More than knee-deep in twelve hours.

You might gently suggest to your Councillor that ending the plowing contracts by the calendar may have worked before our climate changed, but we need a more up-to-date plan for today.

We can't just call in the Army.

Agreed with the need for flexibility but unless this occurs more frequently....
The same can be said for all who switched over to their summer tyres.

The evidence suggests both frequency and spread will increase; we just don't have that big an army. Nor do our local Councillors seem to have even a sense there's a need to respond, let alone an plan. That we cannot afford

A business case will be required but:
- this has happened once so far so it is statistically insignificant
- from a risk assessment, fairly low, again due to infrequency
- not sure how the current plowing contracts are tendered so there may be costs associated with changes to existing conditions.

5 Hours From Toronto
Here in NE Ohio, I was able to wash my SUV and take a bike ride last Thursday and Friday but it snowed yesterday and is expected to again tomorrow, I am not happy at all about it.
