Solo vacation in Cuba a good idea?

I went to Varadero solo about 18 years ago. Didn't end up getting lucky but I still had a great time, sunburn that blistered aside.

I remember being shocked when I saw that the resorts and beaches were topless but by the end of my week there, I was used to it. I went for a walk on the beach one morning near the end of my stay and said hello to a couple where the woman was topless and it didn't phase me.

I was in Havanna for 5 nights and could not find any girl action anywhere. Had a few guys try and hustle me - running up to me as soon as I left my hotel looking for money and using any excuse possible to hang out with me. I told them to bugger off . Had to do it loudly so the cops nearby could hear . Maybe others know the island better than me but you can find lots of girls in the Dominican Republic - especially Sosua and or Jaco Beach in Costa Rica. I stayed at the Hotel Cocal in Jaco where girls would come by the dozens if not hundreds at the pool side bar. Girls everywhere in Jaco Beach.

Jaco beach in Cuba or costa sorry? I’m thinking of doing solo trip next week or two, looking for the same thing, Jacob beach is easier for girls? Working of not?

Is there still a food shortage in Cuba. I was there during Christmas, even eggs were difficult to find.

I'm thinking of going to Cuba (Varadero or Cayo Santa Maria) for the first time, all by myself sadly. I love the beach but find the idea of going alone to be not so attractive. Is it possible to find a companion there to spend the week with?

In my mind, the only way this is going to work is you have to decide if your going to just enjoy the sun and be fine going alone, or if your really going looking for action. If your going hoping for action, it's a completely different ball of wax that includes a lot of due diligence including a section here on TERB that will help you out. Honestly, as a guy that's traveled specifically to whore monger, I find it's almost more stressful and not even worth it. To many worries and concerns, especially not knowing the language.

If your going because you want to get the hell of the cold ass winter here in Canada for a bit, and your not concentrating on getting any female action, Cuba is good from a price stand point, but keep your expectations low as far a food and the resorts. A rule of thumb is you can take one star off any resort in Cuba in comparison to resorts at other places. I.E, If your staying at a 4 star Cuban resort, it's more like a 3 star.
