Italy Uruguay what do you expect. Might as well play the game in a swimming pool.
I played soccer from the time I was 5 years old. It's a tough sport that requires a tremendous amount of endurance and playing through pain. Quad, hamstring and groin injuries are common place. Most players aren't pussies. You clearly haven't played the game Captain.
Actually, I have. throughout high school. No doubt you have to be in shape. But we never staged the kind of nonsense I see with the games in the World Cup. (We were just a bunch of kids from Hamilton I suppose.)
The one thing I will say about soccer is that anyone, regardless of social strata, can play soccer. All you need is a ball and a piece of grass. (Unlike many other sports which cost a fortune in equipment.)
And I don't know why, but the more "macho" a country, the more their players seem to stage these fake dives. Maybe I'm wrong, but the Italians seem like world class champs at fake dives, as opposed to the Germans, or the English who have that nordic stiff up lip thing happening and don't seem to pull it (the fake dives) every 2 minutes.
They really need to crack down hard on it already.
