Trump is doing what he believes is best for his country and he campaigned on exactly what he is doing.

Trudeau's own party and NDP allies finally convinced him to step down after a decade of ruining Canada and when we need the Federal government most, he prorogues parliament rather than calling an election that everyone wants so we can move forward. We need a strong leader and government.

Its about a myriad of things, fentanyl is an important one though. The amount of the drug crossing the border from Canada (mostly BC) into the US has increased substantially in the past several years. Also the open borders policy the Trudeau administration operated with since 2020 has a lot to do with it as well. The tariffs are a strategic move to get Canada to move to a) put more resources into border security; b) put more resources into national defense; c) renegotiate the CUSMA and d) to trigger regime change in Canada.

The reason that the West failed in Afghanistan is a function of how primitive the country is - not of how "masculine" ffs. The road net is so primitive that you drive at about 10 kph along most of the roads with most of your heavy vehicles continually getting stuck. Most of the outlying areas are ruled by warlords who profit from the opium trade and who govern by terrorizing the common people. The country is huge and very sparsely populated.

The common people are straight out of the Medieval world. They practise barely subsistence farming and live from hand to mouth and in fear of their overlords.

You simply cannot occupy a country so large, primitive and inhospitable. You never win over the people and eventually the invader simply runs out of money and will power and evacuates.
