5 minute walk to the downtown for any restaurants, but you'll run out of restaurants to try after a month putting everything on company's tab.
Is there a movie theater even?
How about events like concerts and festivals?
Have to drive 2 hours into the city to see any lady?
Any jobs if you aren't supporting your current company?
You'll get bored to death after a month. Trust me.
To live a small town life is to get away from all those things and live a simpler, cleaner life.
Why go to restaurants? I know how to cook myself and am quite good at it, so why pay several hundred dollars for a meal I can prepare myself?
Another one of the benefits of living out in the country is that you are able to buy more land for less and are therefore blessed with the ability to grow your own food, raise chickens for cruelty free eggs, etc.
Are concerts and festivals even worth it anymore? Ticketmaster has made it so that most of them cost several hundred dollars if not thousands of you want good seats.
Once upon a time there were plenty of small towns that were within an hour's drive of any urban centre in Ontario but the relentless creep of urbanization has turned these small towns into suburbs complete with all the problems and hassle that comes with it.
Sure, small town life isn't for everyone. Some people need those amenities that only come with urban living. For others, however, small town life is the only way to go. Boredom is a state of being that only comes with urban life, small town life offers entertainment that makes boredom all but impossible for those with wonderlust and unafraid to spend time in the great outdoors. Hunting, fishing, canoeing, hiking, snowmobiling, camping and a myriad of other activities keep those who are not bothered by sweating a little to find endless amounts of activities to keep them busy.
Personally if didn't have responsibilities that keep me in urban centres, I would have made the move to the north shore of Lake Superior over a decade ago
