I was a great cuddler before sex, but not after.
I can't sleep if I am touching somebody, or even if the bedding is too warm.
Even right after sex I had to "distance"...
I used to explain it to my girlfriends like this:
Most animals, humans included, have many carryover instincts from primal times.
For example, why does a dog love to chase a tennis ball?
It's instinctive behavior from when they were less evolved, and had to chase and catch their prey in order to eat and survive.
Now, consider the human male.
Way back in the caveman days, the male was usually the protector of the family against predators, and had to be constantly on the lookout for threats.
However, during sex (which was probably predominantly doggy style back then) his attention was diverted during the act.
But, right after his climax, he would have to immediately run to the unprotected front of the cave just in case there was a sabre-toothed tiger, or a left-over dinosaur, getting ready to attack his family.
So even me, as an evolved human male, right after my climax I had to instinctively run to the kitchen to save my girlfriend (or wife and kids) from the Oreo cookies and glass of milk that might be preparing to attack us!
