Well here I am for the fifth day in a row with my days and nights messed up. The heat makes me very tired. I am a man in my fifties who has relatively good sleep habits. For the past week though the heat has made me very tired in the day time, so tired in fact that I lay down for a rest before supper and then I wake at 3 am ready for a new day. Does anyone else have this problem?...if so what do you do to change it?...( please dont say dont nap during the day as I cant get through the heat with out one) I am outside most of the day so A/C is not an option.

Sleep is something your body will call for when needed. Why fight it?

I just wish it would stop calling for it during the day.:(
With a welfare system that is weighted so heavily in favor of lifetime support, why work?

No, not at all.

I was injecting a bit of pre-sun humor.

I get up about 4 am most days and hit the sheets by 10 pm. I tend to sleep well most night but like you occasionally has the odd
fitful
. I too understand how the next day goes. Before I installed central air I would melt in bed. One ting that helped was a dehumidifier in the basement. The basement was always cooler and once the dampness was removed it would prove to be a sanctuary against the heat. I also spent more than one night asleep on the porch.

I only sleep when I have to. A very wise uncle of mine, now gone, said to me once, ' You can sleep when you're dead.'

LOL....I guess I will get plenty when Im dead. I have a dehumidifier in the basement which the SO keeps shutting off....( silly girl thinks it doesnt help...just costs money)
Today I am going to try to stay out of the house until supper...go home and eat and try to stay clear of the bedroom.....unless the SO heads there first...lol

I get very sick when I have the AC on. I feel extremely weak and fatigued the next day, to the extent that I cannot function. Does anyone else have this problem?

Try an over the counter sleeping pill. Take them only for a few nights until you get back to your normal sleep patterns. If used in that manner, they're not addictive, if that's a concern. I recommend Unisom or Melatonin. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, food, or exercise after 6PM. Make sure the room is very dark and very quiet. Don't watch TV in bed - read quietly instead. Good luck.

The last two days it has been so hot that each night on the way home I've had to stop at York Central Hospital In Richmond Hill to have my underwear surgically removed from the crack of my ass.
