Keeps the tiger entertained and gives a feeling of "at home". Tigers are not stuffed animals, they are predators. They hunt and eat game. I've seen much worse on National Geographic than what was shown in those pictures.

Maybe the Toronto Zoo should emulate the Chinese and feed the carnivores life game. It would be much more natural and entertaining for the cats.

it actually has more to do with controlling diet, don't want them eating anything that might have a disease in it, thats why all TERB members are banned from the ZOO

So, $5.50 for a chicken show, and $205 for the cow show. Is the price for the political dissedent show fixed, or does it depend on the market price for transplanted organs at the time?

Very cool. I would like to see that done at African Lion Safari.

What would PETA have to say about that? I'll bet they won't be happy until the tigers eat nothing but celery and carrot sticks.

lol.

I can just imagine what would happen if they ever tried that at african lion safari. protests up the yin yang.

PETA has got to be the buggest bunch of dipshits I've ever seen, hypocrites to boot. They never tell people about all the animals they kill every year.

I wish I could get them to go pet a great white, or a saltwater croc

You know not of what you speak friend. PETA would object to the keeping of the animals in zoos in the first place. They would protest feeding cows only because of the captivity aspect. I am a member of PETA, but I am not a vegetarian, although pretty close. I belong because I believe that all animals deserve to be treated humanly, even if they are being used for food. It is possible to keep animals in captivity in a way that is humane, and there are even ways to kill them humanely. I think using animals for no other reason than to make fur coats for the wealthy is barbaric. I think using animals for research for cosmetic products is cruel and unnecessary.

I think that am pretty typical of the "rank and file" member. Admittedly, many of PETA's tactics are "out there" but they do this primarily to get press. It's a necessary evil for any 'lobby" group. Last year they proposed that cow milk shouldn't be used for ice cream... only human breast milk. The press went nuts. Their website clearly stated it was a joke to raise awareness.

And yes, the leader is a certifiable nutbar.

I call shenanigans! You're a member of PETA to try to get on a photo shoot of all those lovely, naked supermodels. :)

Seriously, animal cruelty is not cool and animals in captivity should only be there as part of an international conservation program. It's sad but if that tiger was in the woods, it'd be eaten by the crazy cantonese. We have a saying, "the cantonese will eat anything that has four legs except for tables and chairs."

Agreed. All they care about are the cute and cuddly animals. And self grandization.
Again, totally wrong. Why don't you guys research a little before your spout off. Much of PETA's work involves improving conditions in factory farms. Last year they convinced KFC to change the way that the chickens they buy are slaughtered. Now they must come from farms that meet specific standards for the way the animals are raised and slaughtered. Chickens are hardly cute and cuddly. I don't understand why anyone can find anything wrong with that.

Perhaps you will enjoy this video... Not typical, admittedly extreme but demonstative of what goes on in some farms. PETA's website has dozens of similar videos and photgraphs are extremely disturbing acts of cruelty. Spend a little time there and you'll change your opinion I expect.

There's no justification for cruelty to any animal. Even PETA recognizes that the vast majority of people will continue to eat meat, but that's no reason to effectively torture animals while they are raised and killed.

Anyone with a brain has to realize that in the long term, raising animals for meat is an unsustainable industry. The amount of land used to raise cows alone is astronomical. The waste they produce isn't treated for the most part and is a major cause of green-house gas production. All you have to do is drive to central rural Ontario to see how cattle farms have poisoned the ground water. And from a nutritional point of view, meat provides nothing that can't be derived from plants.

As I said, I enjoy eating meat on occasion, I just want to be able to enjoy the occasional burger knowing that the animal was at least raised and slaughtered in a humane way.

Don't get me started about fur and cosmetic testing...

The Chinese have little respect for life in general. Look at their human right stance, and the way they dispose of their daughters if they can't have a son. Gotta love the dumbass douchebags filming the video.

I don't have a problem with treating animals ethically.

its PETA's definition of what is ethical that I have a problem with. I don't like the idea of fur coats either , except where the animal has already been killed for food. if its already being killed for food , then why not use the entire animal?

I don't think zoo's are that bad , as long as the animals being kept are provided with the proper habitat, close as possible to their natural environment. I think they're good in a sense that we can take children there so they can see animals from different parts of the world , which they may never otherwise be able to see and appreciate.

As far as I know , PETA is against people even owning pets. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. For them to sit on their high horse and try to dictate to everyone else that they should not keep a cat or a dog as a pet is a slap in the face to every pet owner that takes proper care of their pet.

I won't argue against the fact that SOME people should not own pets, as they're dumber than the pets they own, and can't take care of them properly. But that's a case by case situation.

and PETA's tactics are exactly the reason why they don't get any respect from me. Throwing blood on people who wear fur is not going to win you any friends.
