No. The land was bought for housing decades ago by the wealthy developers then Greenbelted away by the Liberals.
What people seem to not understand is that you need the Developers. Without them, nothing is getting built. If they do not want to build outside of the Greenbuilt then the Government is screwed.
The other option is that NIMBYism is made illegal and Toronto is made open for redevelopment. Condos everywhere. Density everywhere.
No, the land was NOT bought for housing decades ago by wealthy developers. If that were true, the developers would have already built housing years and decades prior the Greenbelt being legally enacted. The developers bought land long ago, then sat and sat on their undeveloped lands instead of building housing on it for years and years and decades instead of just waiting for the right lackey. their lackey,
running ruining the province who then would unleash a veritable basket of goodies upon them, one and all.
What developer bootlickers don't understand is that developers sit and sit on property, property already approved to build, property with all the required to permits to start building NOW and even much before NOW. There are already dozens upon dozens of developer building permit approved properties reading to build but are sitting fallow right NOW. With them nothing is getting built that doesn't bequeath them massive profit and advantage. With them, there is no hope in hell of less unaffordable housing units.
Nimbyism will remain strong as ever in Edenbridge and other wealthy areas where Conservative political leaders and their developer/corporate handlers reside as does cronyism whereby developer poobahs sit on police boards, supplant and direct local planning processes and dictate provincial land use policies with Doug enacting their dictates, line by line, point by point and word for word
