I have an 4gb ipod nano which I have had for about 4 and a half years, the battery pretty much is finished. I was looking into getting an ipod touch or one of the 8gb ipod nanos, I was curious as to when you buy an app for the touch how do you pay for it?

-Is it easy to put music onto the touch? to transfer from the computer to the touch
-I dont think I would use the internet on the touch alot but do you have to pay to connect to the internet?
-When I listen to a song on my ipod now I turn it up full blast, how is the volume on the touch?
-Would a cover for the touch be recommended to protect it from finger prints?

Thanks for the help.

You have to have an Itunes account which has your visa number (you can add one to your account if it's not there). When you buy an app (in the ap store, the ipod touch will simply ask for you to sign in to your account.

It's the same as putting music on your ipod. Just put the usb cable in.

You can connect to wifi so yes, it's free.

I've never put it on full blast but my guess is it's the same.

If the wi-fi is free, it's free. If the wi-fi isn't free, you need to pay for it. I use Boingo as a wifi source when I'm not at home - I pay 7.95 US/month.

My experience is the more you use your Touch, the more you want to do with it. I bought it mostly for music and photos, but I hardly use it for that. I've settled number of disagreement of facts during discussions at bars. This has made me more popular with some, less so with others. :)

I've been thinking of getting a Ipod Touch as well...so this is a useful thread. The one thing that the Touch doesn't have, is a phone. So, the question is, can you do pretty much everything on the IPhone that you can on the Touch? That is to say, is the Iphone useful for listening to music, looking at pictures etc.? Would you download music, entertainment on your Iphone??
Thanks.

You're right Shades, a phone is the only difference - you'd do all those things on your iPhone.

thanks Brill....Is this one of the reasons that I see suggestions that the Ipod Touch sales are dropping and may forshadow it's demise? I would guess, if the phone is the only difference in functionality, that perhaps the memory for non-telephonic functions might be a little less on the IPhone?

Your place!!
The phone also has a camera and the touch doesn't. If you use the internet a lot then the phone is better as you are on it easier with your phone service.

A guy I work with uses Skype on his Touch, so he is able to make phone calls on it when he's in a wifi hotspot. Really though, with the iphone available and all the apps on it, I can see the Touch going the way of the dodo. I can settle bar bets with my Blackberry's browser, and most others at the bar will also have either a BB or an iphone.
