Should I, and to what extent should I shave my pubes?

Been using electric razor daily for 20 years, face first then crotch, scrotum n dick and never had a problem ... although occasionally get "razor burn" when I'm too rough on myself. That disappears quickly with nivea cream ...

That seems like an excellent way to carry germs from one place to another and start an infection.
Unless you're completely cleaning and sanitizing your shaver with alcohol in between, this sounds dangerous to me.
Years ago I was told to put on socks before underwear by a doctor. This prevents athlete's foot or any foot fungus moving to your crotch, as you drag your underwear over your feet. By putting on socks first, you cover up any germs on your feet and prevent them from moving with the underwear. It's apparently a great preventative measure, and requires a simple change in order of getting dressed so I do it every day now. Can't imagine shaving pubes and then running the razor over my face (or vice versa) every day!!
I would think most guys would use different razors but who knows? lol I spray my disposable razors with hydrogen peroxide between each use and only use them a few times.
And never, ever share a razor with another person! Even your SO. Same goes for toothbrushes.
Years ago when I was a green and naive lad I shaved with a Mach 3 and shaving cream.
Now I know that if you're doing it that way, you're doing it wrong.
I swear by my Philips Bodygroom. Can shave the c&b each and every day, wet or dry, and never a care for bumps or bleeding.

I needed this thread when I started hobbying. However, been able to figure out most of the things on my own.

I don't like foam, because I want to see clearly what I'm actually shaving.
As far as the razor goes, I use Venus Sensitive - the pink one, for chicks. But as someone one YouTube said - "if it's good enough for vagina, it should do the job".
Guillette blades are too good for that area and easy to cut with.
However, I'm thinking about finding a cheaper alternative, because Venus are disposable razors and quite costly.
I find them to work perfectly for me, but probably there are better options, so any recommendations are appreciated.

I have no idea why anyone uses razors anymore for the manscaping.
Thanks, but I think it's safer to use disposable razors, because they don't accumulate germs and stuff. Also, I'm a bit terrified at thought of occasionally chopping it off with a shaver, lol. Tried to use my beard trimmer once, and got a few cuts, which were quite painful.
I'm curious, what makes this so much better than a razor and shaving cream? I've never actually used a foil shaver (for manscaping or facial hair). I've always just assumed they didn't shave as close.
I use my Body groom on my shaft, above my shaft, balls, ass and even the rest of my body.
I've never once cut myself or gotten any kind of infection with the Body groom, and I have used it hundreds of times. This is pure paranoia if you feel this way.
In terms of why it is better - to me it is a) the frequency in which I can shave. Every day if I want to. I could never do this was a razor (I was using a Mach III).
b) the absence of unsightly ingrown hairs / red bumps. With a razor I had to wait like 2 or 3 days until I could shave again or risk cuts and bumps... this was very annoying (maybe it's just my skin and hair though).
c) speed. I don't need to apply cream, then shave, then wash. This is shave and go.
d) cost. As I indicated above.
I find the shave close enough. Sure it isn't as close as with a razor, but it is good. I pull my skin around to lift up the hairs and this works -- you also have to do this with a razor.

Shave every couple days... (But be sure and time it according to your "dating" schedule... You'll always wanna be fresh and smooth when you are with a lady friend.

I previously used a Mach III, but by chance tried a Schick Hydro sampler I had in the house when I ran out of blades for the Mach III. Oh man, I've never gone back.
Dannywd78 is right, just some warm water does the trick.
That being said, I am interested in the Phillips Body Groomer BigDude mentioned above. I have one on order (thanks for the link dude!) that I'll be picking up tonight.
That's what I do... I use one that has a removable piece for adjusting beard lengths (1-5). However, if you remove that piece and carefully trim without the "guard" you get a "perfect" trim.... i mean, it's so neat and clean it doesn't look "natural" but while i love and prefer super smooth "lady parts", i feel kind of awkward being COMPLETELY shaved. So that part's great, perfect really. I then do use very good razors (the same kind i would use on my face, but, obviously, not actually the same razor lol) so you know, like 4-5 blades and the lubricating strip. Anyway, I use the razor just to clean up the shaft, shave the balls, and shave the taint... I usually get pretty awesome bbbjs too!Use one of those trimmers like people use for beards. Cuts super close but not enough to itch (uisually)
So that's my technique.
I was once really lazy (not to mention extremely dumb) and used some hair removal cream on my crotch despite the bottle telling me not to use it on the genitals. Now I always shave with razors.
