A loss to Seattle??!!

Does Sam look like a deer in headlights out there. No adjustments to stop Durant in the Seattle game, poor substitution in the Portland game and just general sub-par coaching I would argue.

I dont put the blame all on Mitchelle, last year was a fluke seasone for the raptors, mind you they are still a good team, and some players that performed last year are not this year, eg Andrea Barnargni. I still say we will make the playoffs, but wont have the record we did last year.

I think Sam has come a long ways from the first, and even second year that he coached the Raps. When his players are not executing, it seems that Sam is at a loss to recognize that and change his strategy.
In the first game against the Raps at the ACC (i think it was the second or third game of the season, it was brutal.

If anything, Sam's stubborness in the heat of action sometimes gets the better of him. However, for the most part he has shown that he learns from his mistakes. I agree, he needs to become a much better tactician... but again, in that area, he has shown great improvement.

So who would you hire if you fire Sam?

Would Scott Skiles be a good fit for the Raptors?

I like Sam Mitchell. To me he's the best coach the Raps have ever had.

Exactally!

I like the way he coaches, his demeanor and style. Injuries to Garbo and now TJ Ford and a slow start to Barnagni adn Bosh, he basically had to deal with it all, and continued have a .500 record or better. There is no consistancy. Win 2 lose 1, lose 3 win 5, win 2 lose 2...like wtf?

If they are 5-6 games above .500 come the break they will be right there in the standings, in the 4-7 sport exactly where they should be.

Id only and only if they started the season like 1-20 next season, fire him. They have a shot at the playoffs and 4th sport can be their's if they can go on a roll of 3-4 win streaks, its theirs hands down.

For that to happen, Bargnagni and Bosh have to lead this team and come through.

Seems to me last season, about this time, a lot of fans,(me included) wanted Sam gone. Then the Raptors turned it around and and we all calmed down.Lets see what happens. The season is young and they have had a ton of injuries.I don't think they will catch Boston but they will make the playoffs and hopefully advance further than last year.
Of all the Toronto GM's the last one I would second guess is Colangelo.

Sure he could fire Sam but that won't fix picking Bargs over Brandon Roy, Rudy Gay or LeMarcus Aldridge, or fix trading runner up for ROY for a guy who may have to retire this year.

Does anyone know what position the raptors would be in if TJ Ford has to retire?

For example, do they have insurance and are there special rules in the NBA for freeing up cap space? :(

I think they will get the cap space back after he is out a full year BUT it won't put them below the cap limit anyways. They will have to sign Calderon to about the same they paid TJ anyways this summer since TJ can no longer be relied upon to be a long term Raptor.

Its a real shame that the 8th and 16th pick (Villeneuva and Graham) could turn out to = zero after 3 years.

raptors

instead of firing mitchell, maybe they can get a good assistant coach to help him out ... I'm talking about someone who's been around for a while and knows basketball

and speaking of veteran, I think the raptors need a good veteran to provide some veteran leadership/support - just like back then with oakley, ad and kevin willis
