Of course if you were convicted of a crime and serve your time and your sentence is over it is against the law to require or demand a copy of your criminal record.

I don't know what planet you are on, but in my industry employers rountinely require you to sign a form authorizing them to do a background check that includes a search to see if you have a criminal record. The employment form also has a box "Y/N Have you ever been convicted of a crime?"

As I understand it you are only entitled to answer 'N' to that question if you have never been convicted or, if you were convicted, if you have received a pardon.

Simply act professional and be up front with her and tell her if she wants to model as a career she needs to go to an agency etc. Be frank about the fact you do figure photography as a hobby but its all above board and you only work with women that have portfillios of their work so if she actually has expereince ask to see her portfillio.

Call her bluff and don't let her feel she is intiminadating you because she "discovered" something on you. If she persists let her know that her attitude is exactly why you don't make your nude photography hobby public because people are immature and would take it the wrong way. Act like a serious photographer when it comes to nude photography and perhaps mention you are thinking of signing up for nude photo workshops and usually they use professional models. Show her non nude photography books or magazines you have just to back up your claim that photography is a hobby.

By doing this everything appears legit and even if her little discovery comes to light simply have some photo books (non nude) in your office and show that you are into this as a hobby seriously and make her actions of "outing" you as nothing but immature and the reason you keep this stuff about your hobby private.

If she does actually decide to let you photograph her have her sign a model release form (no not that kind of "release") and act like it is not sexual but a study in art. Also ask her to bring a friend along for her to feel comfortable. If she does comply only do suggested nude photos at first so she doesn't have anything too revealling to get you with from the first session. If she wants more revealing photos then get her to sign that she agrees to these.

I think if you act like a pro about this she will either respect your serious attitude about and realise she has nothing on you so she will shut up. She may be curious and ask if you can photograph her but if you do let her know you know she has the wrong attitude about your hobby.

If you take the wind out of her sails she may just let it go and never mention it again becuase she knows it doesn't cause you concern since you are serious about photography.

In the planet I live on there is the "privacy legislation". Which means if you answer no they have no way of checking it.

They can and do check it, my friend. You sign a waiver authorizing them to run a police background check on you. The background checking service is provided by the RCMP. If you refuse to sign the waiver you won't get the job. It's part of the application process. If you check "no" and it turns out you do have even a minor criminal record then you won't get the job on the grounds that you lied on your application. If you check "no" and somehow they miss something, and they find out later, you instantly lose your job with cause.

Hint: All of the people who work for me go through this process. I myself went through this process. There are some jobs for which this process is a regulated requirement. I'm not just making this up.

If you have even a minor criminal record then there are some jobs for which you are just plain screwed. You are unhireable. In some cases it's outright illegal to hire someone with a criminal record--for example, most jobs in the banking and securities sectors require professional certifications that cannot be held by people with criminal records. Many govt./defense industry jobs require security clearances which, again, can't be held if you have a criminal background. The security clearances are also issued by the RCMP. Many firms that do business with the govt. require ALL employees to hold the security clearance, even if you are working on a project or for a part of the company that is not handling a govt. contract--it makes their internal auditing easier.

If you get a criminal record and you have a professional career of any kind in general YOU'RE SCREWED.
