This goes with any professional. Imagine your dentist stopping mid drilling to pick up the phone and then start laughing because the sender sent something humorous.
This is true but a dentist has as phone staff person who deal with calls and if they came during your routine cleaning exam and said there was an emergency- the dentist would leave and you would have no problem with that I’m sure.
The texting depends on who I'm seeing. If it's someone new it does bother me, turns me off and I probably wouldnt repeat.
If it a regular they usually don't touch there work phones but it does happen but doesn't bother to much. If it happened a often I would say something a couple times and if it kept happening I'd probably take a break for a while. It's happened once and when she texted for our weekly session I told her that I was taking a break and why. If it's their personal phone and it's family stuff it' doesn't bother me at all. As much as I liked the other provider and she did offer me a discount for our next session, I haven't seen her since. During the break I found another provider I enjoy so I just stick with her.
Generally it's a huge no no. Yes I will never see a provider again . In fact I won't see providers you don't provide way to contact them by voice. If all the interruptions are text I don't see them. I guess I've been lucky, it's usually pre or post appointment, but I'm thinking the texters/surfers who leave their cells intentionally on the night stand, use their phones to waste 5 to 10 minutes off each hour appointment.
