Actor Richard Roundtree has died. In the early seventies, he played private detective John Shaft in three movies and continued with a fine career in movies and television. He was 81.

Ohh, I thought it was another ED problem post at first. RIP shaft.
I saw the original movie at the Fox Theater in Detroit a half century ago. Great music for a pure blaxploitation movie, but Roundtree was actually very good in the role.
Very good actor. He appeared in a lot of film and television roles over the years. My favorite was this one from 1983, which is free on YouTube
One of the coolest soundtracks. The wah wah was a major breakthrough.
Saw him on Merv Griffin or some show when it was just out. Came across as a personable, good natured, nice guy with a sense of humor.
The movie is good. The soundtrack is sensational. So gangster. Isaac nailed it!
