I have this issue of Penthouse, (June, 1971), but I'm not the original owner.
Were the pages stuck together when you got it?
No, it's in excellent condition.

There used to be small store with no name on Queen Street East, just east of Parliament St. An old Chinese guy who hoarded things used to own and operate it; I never met him. His son inherited the store when his father died. In the back room was "The Unholy Grail" of Porn mags and paperback books, usually only one copy of each. Clearly, the old man was a major perv, who also understood his target audience. There used to be a TD Bank branch right across the street, and lots of people on Social Assistance would make impulse purchases on the one or two days each month when they had any money. Only a select few would be invited into the back room.

I bought about a hundred vintage men's magazines from the son for about $150, from the 50's, 60's and early to mid 70's. My favorites are the mid 60's digest sized 'pulp fiction' porn, in black and white. Many of the models' facial expressions look like they owe money to 'The Mob'. The advertisements are priceless; things like replica pistols, fake police badges, 8 MM stag films, etc. I got a few of the early issues of Viva magazine, a 'porn for women' magazine published by Penthouse in the mid to late 70's, and one extremely rare magazine, the only issue of a magazine named Him and Her, from 1975. It had BG couples pictorials, even an Interracial one years before doing that got Larry Flynt shot. I think magazine distributors took one look at the contents, and assigned the entire print run to the paper shredding room. That's a shame, because it was a great magazine, way ahead of its time.

For a while in early 2017, the store was great, mostly because the son had no business sense or experience, and almost everything in the store was a great bargain. Then he took on a business partner, and they started cataloguing the inventory, and within four months, the store was out of business. It's still there, but vacant. The real estate value would be pretty good, if somebody could also buy the small adjacent stores.

Edit: The extremely rare magazine is named He and She, not Him and Her. Issue #1, presumably the only one, is cover dated July, 1975,. The price is $1.50, and the magazine is 68 pages, including covers. The magazine was scheduled for bi-monthly publication by Tempest Publications Inc. Robert Amsel is Editor.

There are no advertisements, and all of the colour pictorials are physically attractive couples. There's no Interracial pictorial; it's a Black couple, and the woman is light skinned. The level of erotica is comparable to mid 1970's Penthouse BG pictorials. I have no doubt that the magazine would get a thumbs up from Mr. Bret.
