Most of the female tennis players always say that. Maria Sharapova says it all the time. Let's not single out the William sisters.

But truly it was sour grapes and showed no class.

Can you get some proof of Sharapova saying it all the time ?

her ass and legs are wonderful. Her ass is how it should be. Not flat like the wall which is probably how you like it.

Any man who thinks an obvious woman looks like a man has some serious issues. Her face is fine. All some of you people like to do is degrade people for no reason.

I would love to see the face of all the women in your family esp your mother and sister, nevermind your woman.

Why is it "playing" a race card? You don't think the Williams sisters haven't received extra positive and negative press due to the fact that they 2 black ladies dominating in a mostly non-black playing sport? Just that fact that they're sisters gets them a certain amount of press.
Whenever minorities speak the truth about how they are treated differently it is always the race card.

You notice no one can answer why the sisters are treated differently? When Maria Hingis used to make the most classless comments on the planet the media said it was "banter that was good for the sport"

Double standards. The media need to chill and realise these black girls who grew up dirt poor and who couldnt afford to pay for tennis lessons like thir precious ones will lose eventually. No need to be upset that two black girls came and dominated. Talk about upsetting the applecart and upsetting alot of folks.

ahhh the race card against Serena and Venus is soooooooo boring, and for the vast majority who dislike them so not true, its their attitude, these two are basically Kournikova with more talent, all about the parties and celebrity focus on the game damnit!!! leave the Entertainment Tonight stuff for the actors or become on, like that Beckham goof isnt bad enough at least he isnt a bad seed.

as for the dirt poor ahh trying being one of the upcoming Serb stars who dont even have a national federation to support them, live in a war zone, having to travel to another country to train or practice where bombs have just fallen, then the Williams can brag about how hard they had it.

Aaahhhh, funny how their attitude gets highlighted. How come people didn't care about the nasty attitudes of the following players:

Hingis
Sharapova
Henin

I would love for you to tell me. Why is it when those 3 display the so called bad attitude we don't hear the outcry from the media and the likes of you?

Can you at least tell me that without talking about this race card nonsense. It is as clear as day. Most of the people who do not like the sisters don't like them because they are basically black girls from the ghetto who took the tennis world by storm and certain people couldnt stand seeing them on top.

If these girls were also rans like Zina then you wouldn't have all this hate directed their way. That is the long and short of it.

The warzone the Williams sister lived in is just as real. In case you forgot their sister was murdered. It could have easily been them when they were kids growing up in a place like Compton.

I must have missed it, where did the Williamses BRAG about how hard they have it? By the way, which of the 'Serb stars' have a more titles than the sisters. And name the exact players who were disturbed by bombs dropping. Thanks in advance.

PS: The Williamses have a 'black' face. The Serbs are white. When they walk through doors they will get better treatment. A white face always trumps a black one no matter where they come from.

PPS: The Williamses were trained by who again? Their f-a-t-h-e-r.

Whoa! I go away for a day and look at all the talk on this LOL. Ok first off Liquid Snake, confident yes, athletes have to be, but there is a fine line between that and being cocky. Respect for your follow man in you're sport only adds to your intrigrity as a player. If you watch most of Serena's games, many times the crowd even gets annoyed with her antics. Now I'm not questioning her skills as a player, by far she is exceptional, all I'm saying is that she IS a sore loser about it. And don't give me any bull about "its all emotions" because there are plenty of players out there who after being defeated take it in stride, just say what they need to say without making any excuses.

And thanks New2Game for the back up on Serena's looks. LOL I know it has nothing to do with the sport but come on people! She's built like a horse. No doubt it takes dedication to build your physique like that and respect to her for it but sexy? No F---ing way. And finally.... Franky....dude, if you think she's attractive, then you son have some serious issues......but I guess to each is own. Personally I think she's fugly. And before you play any type of race card, I'm brown and I love coloured women of all shapes and sizes..., who are actually HOTT that is. Just because she's got tits and ass doesn't make her hott.

the Serbs I was refering to all young and new comers, Ivanovic had to train in between NATO bombing runs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ana_Ivanović

Dokovic had to move to Britain, Jankovic to Germany, thats a little further than driving a couple of blocks that the Williams' sisters had to do to get away from their bad neighbourhood, and as a matter of fact Serena was born in Saginaw, Michigan and Venus in Lynwood, California, hardly war zones, and yes I know they lived for a time in Compton but it doesnt seem for an extended period of time, as anyone with any sanity would want out of that area of LA, they are celebrities now they walk in and get the royal treatment anywhere, not the Serbs.

Hey Franky, why should I do the research when Back Burner makes the claim Sharapova says it all the time ? He's gotta back up his statement.

Yah, I did see Sharapova on tv a few years ago saying tactfully she does not want to be like Kournikova

I agree Hingis used to say stupid things when she was at the top of the rankings probably due to her immaturity.

Disagree with you on Henin - she's classy in the interviews I seen. Maybe I missed some

Surprised at all the Williams sisters hate. They're great athletes with attitude. Don't mind them at all. Plenty of athletes have it, even those so loved by the media such as ... Muhammad Ali (remember the Gorilla comments?), Michael Jordan (known smack talker during game time), Larry Bird said some weird things too ("I didn't want a white guy guarding me because it was a disrespect to my game"), etc. Heck, a few months ago I saw a boxer lose his world title by getting knocked senseless and then saying in the post interview that he wasn't hurt!

A lot of athletes have attitudes bordering on the disrespectful. Damn, some athletes are known rapists and wife beaters (Tyson, Patrick Roy, Warren Moon), drug addicts (Fleury, Fuhr), don't always give it their all (Vince Carter, TMac), and so on. Compared to some of the names mentioned, these sisters aren't that bad, yet for some reason they elicit really strong negative reactions. Really don't know why and no, for most, I don't think it's a race thing.

she was on many shows if you must know and I saw the ones where she clowned Anna just to score point I guess. She isn't called Sourpova by some for no reason. She acts up a lot.

You missed alot.

Hingis said what she said due to immaturity?? WOW, the excuses pile in. When she used to degrade the Williamses people turned a blind eye and said it was good 'banter'.

Who is more classless than Jennifer Capriati who became America's darling?

1) Dokovic and Jankovic traded up in countries. The fact of the matter is they traded up in time to get trained by professionals!!! Serena and Venus were trained by who again? They grew up in Compton. Just because Serena was born in Saginaw that means she grew up there?

2) The Williamses are celebs now because they a sister act, black in a 'white sport' had game and they rose to the top. Zina Garrison went NOWHERE. The only thing that can make the Serbs celebs at THIS POINT in time is their 'looks' as perceived by the Vogue-ish and Cosmo-ish media. They earned their so called 'royal' treatment. The Serbs?? Could you please list the amount of slams the Serbs, in total, have won. Thank you in advance.

Scouser, I noticed you avoided answering my question. Why is it when the Williamses say silly things they are called classless big and bold in the media and when the likes of Capriati, Henin and Kournikova do it it is swept under the rug and ignored? Don't you find it odd?

Anyway...there is something called context. The media hardly prints everything the Williamses say in the same interview. They always take the bits that SUIT their story. I don't care what you think of them. That is irrelevant. How fair is their treatment??

Now I am off to a message board that I am also a member of to deal with the idiots who seek to insult Sharapova while turning a blind eye to the Williamses. It is all about fairness. Try it sometime!

What antics are those? Are those similar to Henin's when Mauresmo was wiping the floor with her? She even quit playing one match because she knew she couldn't win. How come you don't speak on that??

And thanks New2Game for the back up on Serena's looks. LOL I know it has nothing to do with the sport but come on people! She's built like a horse. No doubt it takes dedication to build your physique like that and respect to her for it but sexy? No F---ing way.
Even Hitler had people to back him up. I guess you deserve your penny section as well.

And finally.... Franky....dude, if you think she's attractive, then you son have some serious issues......but I guess to each is own. Personally I think she's fugly. 1) Where did I say she had tits and ass so she is hot? You need to learn to read and comprehend. I said she has those tits, ass and curves so how the hell she could look like a man to you! She isn't built like a body builder. She is built like most female athlete! End of story. You need to go look at body builders to see how different they look!!

2) I don't care if you are brown. Clarence Thomas is black. I think Serena is attractive when in shape. I think any man who looks at that body and that face and thinks "MAN" is clearly having some issues. Just say she is unattractive to you and leave it at that. In other cultures, the women YOU probably find attractive are considered otherwise. One thing is for sure, Serena doesn't look like a man at all.

3) Since we are on the topic of ugly. May I see photos of your past and present girlfriends, mother and sister please to see what category they fit into.

**What I find funny is that Venus who is very slim like the rest of the women in tennis used to get labelled the same way by some idiots. That is what raised alot of alarm bells.**

Not everyone hates them because of their race but alot do. I say this because the same people who turn a blind eye to the way other players like Hingis, Henin, Sharapova and Capriati behaved are quick to tear the Williamses apart. It just doesn't add up. And I am not comparing how other's are treated in other sports. I am dealing with tennis players.

When you are on top (regardless of race) people tend to turn on you. When you are top of a sport that you aren't 'meant' to dominate then it's even worse. They wouldn't be hated this much if they were playing the WNBA.

Tiger Woods got annoying to some people within golfing circles when he started to win too much.

I was shocked when a former Trinidadian turned Canadian golfer took shots at Tiger himself until I saw what he looked like. More than one article I have read stated that Tiger will never be as good as Jack no matter how many titles he wins. The articles had nothing but bitterness in it. I had to wonder if Tiger refused the men interviews.

If The Williamses were also rans like Zina you wouldn't hear too much hate directed towards them.

It has been my experience...

...that often times "brown" people are EXTREMELY, shall we say, prejudice...

It has been my assumption that it is a combination of their cultural background (caste systems, etc.) along with a newly learned prejudice once they arrived in North America. Very much like all the immigrants who arrived before them - they encountered prejudice themselves, but the human condition for some reason seems to require many to feel like they are "better" than someone...anyone ...so, what you get is a "hey...I might be 'brown' but at least I'm not a 'nigger' " attitude.

I've seen it a lot actually...

Back to your regularly scheduled ignorance...the whole " The Williams sisters are ugly and evil" thing is so old it isn't worth even wading into...

Personal experience of mine backs up your claims as well.....but of course not ALL brown people...but it certainly is prevalent in that community
