Senator John McCain has died. He was a good man, and a true military hero. As a Senator who could work across the aisle he will be sorely missed.

After lying in State at both the Arizona, and U.S. Capital Buildings, and a funeral at the National Cathedral (the Cathedral Church of Sts Peter and Paul, Washington) he will be buried at the U.S. Naval Academy.

A man who exemplified so many of the better qualities that he should continue to serve as an example to us all. RIP.

I didn't always agree with him but he had the courage of his convictions.... he almost stood up to Trump, unlike the huge cast of Repuglican trough slurpers

Agreed. He embodied integrity, leadership and a remarkable strength of character. And during the last 18 months of his life, he handled his inevitable death with true dignity and a deep appreciation of life, family and friendship.

We should all strive to be as good as he was.

Didn’t always agree with his choices but always admired that he acted with class, dignity and honour. Also worked well with his colleagues across the aisle, so a rare and dying breed. Hopefully, many in the GOP are taking long hard looks in the mirror this morning.

I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it- Ebenezer Hoar. That's pretty much how the most of the GOP feels about McCain's passing. A mostly honorable man, a war hero, a Republican Kerry, lousy presidential candidate and a poster boy for term limits.

DJT obit:

Expired in cellblock 7, Guantanamo Bay Prison, 10 months into a life sentence for Treason. No funeral due to lack of interest and friends. A disgrace throughout his miserable life, a 4 time cowardly draft dodger, a Republican Manchurian Candidate, and poster boy for "never again". Donations can be sent to the DJT-Putin Foundation For The Advancement of Tyranny Through Collusion.

Actually, if I may be so bold to offer a prediction, Trump's funeral will be well attended. It will be uuuge! Standing room only, and only for those, who can afford the tickets. That's the pattern of his life and it will not change in death. To bastardize a move line: it's not that we had it so bad, we're pissed because others have it so much better. RIP Johnny Mac, you left us too soon, but you left the politics not soon enough.

At 71, fat, balding and with a crazy idea that exercise only drains your body's limited battery, combined with the stress of every person around him turning evidence, you may find out soon enough.
I don't think he'd be respected as much as McCain, even with his history of questionable politics.

Sorry for not going orgasmic. Death does not absolve, not even in McCain's case.

If you (or I) accomplished 1/100th of what John McCain did in his life, we would not be on an internet hooker forum discussing him. And if you had 1/1000th of the class that he had, you'd be elevated to just being an internet troll.

Let's be honest our resident lefties are only praising McCain because of his open hostility to Trump. Back in 2008 when he was facing off against Obama we remember what the lefties were saying then don't we.
I respect and admire John McCain for many things. He served his country with distinction, both in the military and in congress. But he was way past his expiration date. He should have left politics after the 2008 loss that was truly an embarrassment.
I don't blame him one iota for his animosity towards Trump. Trump's comments about his war hero status were appalling. But I lost a lot of respect for him when he voted against the Obamacare repeal because it was done out of spite.
He's still a hero and he deserves to lie in state. RIP sir.

McCain respected the common Americans that is why he voted against repealing Obamacare. There were around 26 million who were going to lose their coverage. Obviously that does not matter to he right wing nutcases that cheer for every ridiculous piece of nonsense that is being implemented by that idiot South of the border.

It's not about me or you. It's about a dead American politician who should've retired after the American people had their say in 08.
