A friend is looking to sell her wedding rings. Marriage did not last long - The rings were purchased about 18 months ago.

depending on how much gold is in them you might get a good deal just based on the raw gold alone. I know if you go to a pawn shop you'll get about 1/4 of what they're worth.

What you could try is take them to a jeweller and get them appraised and then ask the same jeweller if they'd be interested in buying them or selling them on consignment. You could also put them up at a jewellry auction if you don't get what they're worth from the cash man.
